what i would given to have been on that hunt and listened to his commentary. i read his book: Swing your Sword and loved every minute of it. excited to see what he does w/ the fb program at WSU. go cougs!

Without hunters as a tool to achieve this, this animals would still be killed, but by disease, starvation, and competition with each other. In addition, in the US, hunters donate billions of dollars just for habitat restoration and conservation, and millions of hours of volunteer work in those areas. No other group comes even close. And groups like the Humane Society of the US (which spends less than 1% of it’s money on animal shelters), and the Defenders of Wildlife spend no money at all on the conservation of wildlife – none. Without hunters and their organizations, more than 90% of the money now spent on conservation would not exist. This is an important fact if you really care about wildlife.
I understand you’re not a hunter. But, you need to understand that hunters are an essential and humane tool for conservation like no other. And, when an ethical hunter takes a trophy, he also takes the meat and pelt and uses whatever else he can of that animal."

I posted a comment as well. I see this is a great opportunity to educate people who have it stick in their head that trophy hunting = unethical. It's like they think you don't keep the meat of a trophy animal... I would strongly encourage people to post level headed, non-incindiary comments in response to Jim's post and also text/call in to his show this afternoon and give him a piece of your mind.
