Sturgeon retention to end in John Day Pool, but continue four extra days in Bonneville Pool

Actions:

1) John Day Pool - The sport fishery for white sturgeon will close to sturgeon retention.

Effective dates: 12:01 a.m., May 21, through December 31, 2012.

Location: The Columbia River and tributaries from John Day Dam upstream to McNary Dam.



Why make effective dates before the release date?

Some poor SOB has a keeper on his catch card from yesterday and I'm guessing someone is going to give him a hard time...
