Title: Discover Pass replacement...issues??
Post by: yelp on May 27, 2012, 08:37:35 AM
Anyone know if I can get a replacement for my Discover Pass that I purchased.  It faded and I got a citation this weekend from WSPR officer.  I went to the local WDFW license vendor and they said I would have to purchase a new pass and there is no way to get a replacement.  So right now as it stands..I would have to pay for the citation and a new discover pass.  I am a little pissed.  My pass is legible but barely.  I use the boat ramps and WSPR areas in my area weekly so I leave my pass in dash so I won't forget and get a ticket.  If anyone has any answers I would appreciate it.  I am planning on sending this to state legislature, WSPR, WADNR and WDFW representatives also.  I can't be the only one this has happened too.

I would go straight to the courthouse on tuesday and get this thrown out. That picture says it all dude. Your local wspr officer must be blind and stupid.

Easy to write a ticket to a to a person not around ,than to bust a drug dealer or some other law breaker.Looks like you were a easy target for nit picking. Hard to respect the cops when their being jerks. With the picture a court will toss this.Well worth the day off. They expect you to pay not fight.

Wow I'm pissed. Permission , permission, permission. What the hell has happened to this country when you need that much paperwork to use a boat launch.  We need to stop supporting this BS.

yeah , thats what I would do too !! go back to the launch and place your ticket on the dash and go fishing ....do this about half dozen times and then go see a lawyer and then go see a judge .... I can not stand knowing how much this state loves screwing us and keeps on doing so because WE let them get away with it !!!!! When you have to pack around a punch card that is 4 ft long to catch a salmon you should know how brain dead they are !  :sry:

Make sure you send a copy of the picture to the state parks marketing people.  They can use it in the advertising.  I also would be sending that picture to all the news company, komo, king, and ect.

It wasn't hanging from your mirror. Did you talk to the person or just assume that he/she wrote it for being faded?

They said they couldn't read it.  I also can't hang it from my mirror due to a power mirror set up the card won't fit and it rips so I display it in the window.

I also got to talk to the Head Park Ranger today and showed him the Discover Pass.  He took the citation and voided it out.  He told me the they hired some temps that are just hired to work the parks on Discover Pass compliance so that the Rangers can deal with other things becasue they are short handed.  I also called WDFW about the fading and they say that if the document ID # is still legible you can send it in and they will replace at no charge.  THis also pertains to the WDFW Access permit if it fades too.  I then found out that state parks sell Discover Pass on a paper card and REI does too?  Saw it for the first time today and it shouldn't fade like the WDFW paper does.  They really need a decal that all agencies sell that is the same.  It has been an aggravating experience for sure.  I ended up purchasing the parks annual decal the Natural investment pass (boat launch permit) which includes the Discover pass compliance for state park lands.  Hope this helps some of you!

Total BULL $H!T  !!!!!!  To broke to keep the parks open, but not so broke to hire a bunch of temps that in reality have no legal authority to write a damn ticket...   :bash: :bash: :bash:

This would be like WDFW hiring temps to check licenses and gun violations during hunting seasons....

What's WSPR stand for? I'm sure it has something to do with state parks, but I'd like to get the exact terminology.

Public Records Request time. This is BS.

hey, if its possible to get copies of faded passes, Whats stopping people from printing off a whole bunch?
I know its illegal, but so is not buying one. Lol what about buying one, wait a little time, and get a replacement because its "faded" and using it on another vehicle?

They just need to go back to the little yellow stickers we used to put on the back window, simple, visable, and nicelooking.
