First off I would like to thank Rasbo for his pearls of wisdom that led to the biggest cat I know of caught all weekend and the rest of the hunt-wa members for the info they shared. My first cast from the spot rasbo told me about I caught the cat pitured with my boy and after that all I caught was a buzz and a sunburn. My son caught 2 2-3 pounders over the next 2 days and that was all for us. All of our fish were caught on trout but we did try livers and worms also. The fishing was a lil slow but should start picking up. I only saw 2 other cats caught all weekend and they were caught in the Palouse and about 3 pounds. There was a lady fishing on the breakwater and she caught a 20" walleye using a bobber with six foot leader and a worm. There was a guy fishing in the marina by the big pipe that caught a half dozen small mouth with a bobber and worm. I didnt try fishing there because of the huge bloated beaver floating around...nasty! The only advise I have for you guys is if you are tent camping make sure you stake the ish out of your tent as I watched more than one tent take off like a tumble weed lol

Congrats! One of my buddies was over there this weekend and it sounds like he did pretty good. But, he had a boat and was able to get up the river. I can't wait until the 15th when I'll be over there!

sounds like a good outing.did you guys fish at night?
-
yup we fished at night. Everyone was saying the water is still a little cold even the walleye fishers. The cat in the pic was caught at about 4 in the afternoon. I asked every person I could if they caught anything or know of anyone catching and there just wasnt much happening. By the time you guys go it should be perfect and from what I hear the palouse should yield the most cats.

Hah I had that problem when I was setting up my tent by myself at Palouse Falls before my friends got there, it was REALLY windy. Some guy I talked to said he caught 2 catfish on the main river while fishing for squawfish off the bank. Then two guys that were at Palouse Falls camping said they went down below the falls and fished it and catch a bunch of smallmouth and a couple cats. I was going to bring my shoes to walk down that rockslide to fish below the falls but forgot the darn things. I only caught a suckerfish out on the main river and was going to try fishing from a kayak Saturday morning but didn't feel like fighting with the wind. Didn't get to fish the hole I know of because my friend's girlfriend didn't want to do the walk over to the area.
