Title: Ohio Whitetails
Post by: Bean Counter on June 02, 2012, 02:43:49 PM
Anybody hunt Ohio for deer? It seems to me that deer are a dime a dozen back east. Im looking in to sneaking away for a few days during a family reunion of sorts.  Probably around the second week in November. What are the better areas of the state for good bucks? Anything good coming out of there?

Here's what Ive read so far:
- Archery season is from 29 Sept through the end of the year
-NR tag is about $150.
- The east in general has a lot more private land than public. An  extended relative has private property access and that will be my first pursuit.

Try Tranquility Wildlife Area in Adams County. There is a good amount of land in the Shawnee National Forest. Ohio is one of the Top 5 states for B&C whitetail over the last decade and I would say it is amongst the top few locations for a true giant.

Does it list the zones/counties or it's it a pretty even distribution across the state?
