Has anyone ever seen a mulie in Kapowsin? It wouldn't have crossed my mind until I was shed hunting and jumped 2 deer. one was a blacktail but the other was clearly a mulie. All I had with me was my phone sorry for the crappy picture but I think it's clear enough to tell. It had the white butt, small tail, huge ears and a different coloring then the other doe that was with it. What do you think?

I hjave seensome racks in there big enough for a muley...could never say I seen a muley, did see what I swore was a whitetail
-
I always figured it was far enough from the divide that they wouldn't be anywhere close to there. Until i saw this deer. Guess I figured wrong. I got to watch it for quite awhile through my binoculars and there is no question in my mind that it was 100% mulie. Must have wandered to far west and was trapped on the wrong side when the snow hit. :dunno:

Well, with there being moose in Wenatchee right now, and even Cle Elum, I sure don't doubt that there could be a mule deer in Kapowsin.
-
Definately look like someone migrated the wrong way, cool find.
-
which part of kapowsin was the picture taken on north or south?
-
Well judging by that bright white rump theres no doubting its at least part muley. So much for pure BT genetics any where :chuckle:
-
Well, I'd say thats a mule deer alright. Now, how it got there is another question. :dunno:

could be a hybrid.

could be a hybrid.
Could be, but by the looks of it I'm gonna have to say just lost. Nice find Grundy

I hope one of the mods removes this thread before the "wolves" realize there is a new food source in that area, I'd imagine a "naturally" migrating pack will show up next.

I've seen several mule deer does in there over the years. Some of the bucks I've seen had muley in them for sure. Most people don't realize how far west mule deer will travel, and east for blacktails too. The deer don't know that there is a dividing line.
-
Glad to hear they are still in there ;)

I shot a cougar in there that was collared by the state in Blewett Pass. That cougar traveled a long ways to do that. I am surprised the wolves are not there now. If they only moved a mile a day, they would cross the entire state in 1 year!
-
There was one that hung around the 503 for a couple years.
-
Saw one last year by the big gravel pit on the bridge gate side it wasn't a doe though :)

I have positively seen 3 in there over the years..

i have seen 1 doe in there about 10 yrs ago when i was cutting timber in there told a bunch of the regulars that hunt in there and they all said bs well guess what they are there looks like the wolf pack is going to have to redo there boundaries for bench legs
