Title: Trigger Choices
Post by: Sagedawg on August 08, 2008, 04:22:28 PM
Anyone ever tried the Rifle Basics triggers? I need a new trigger for a yote gun I picked up and while I prefer Timmney, I was thinking of trying one of these from Midsouth. Any feedback for or against would be helpful.

Thanks, Sage

I have never tried those nor Timney. I can speak for Can-jar. GREAT!. I think almost any aftermarket trigger ort to be fine.

I put a Basix trigger in my Rem M700.  I loved it.  It was a very well made trigger, I considered it money well spent.  I would highly recommend it.

I put a Timney trigger in one of my Ruger M77.  I was less impressed with the Timney.  I found it difficult to adjust, but it did work.  That said, I'd never bother to put another Timney in a Ruger M77 again.  The factory trigger is pretty easy to modify for creep and pull.

I hate the factory triggers that come on new guns, long guns or handguns...

I really dont, except in extreme cases, feel at a handicap using factory triggers. Guess Im different like that.

Depends on how good of a factory trigger you have.  I probably have cycled a couple of dozen hunting rifles through my collection over the years.  Some had great factory triggers, most didn't.  I'm talking not so much about trigger pull (say comparing 6 lb vs 3 lb), as I am excessive creep, and lousy break.

Nobody...shoots better, with a mediocre or lousy trigger, than they will with a well adjusted trigger IMO.

Enjoy.

I'll be dropping off my Weatherby Vanguard with a gunsmith on Monday for some trigger work....most likely he will be installing a new Timney, as that is what he recommended when I talked to him yesterday. I looked at the Rifle Basix at midway, and it's $9 more, and the one and only customer review said the trigger was fine but the safety was no good. The Timney has many reviews, most of which give it 5 stars. So I guess I will be going with the Timney.
