Post by: mfswallace on June 08, 2012, 11:05:13 PM: So my brother was drawn for the Nov. 10-19 Buck hunt for GMU's 127-142. He helps me and I help him so I'll be saying we from now on. :chuckle: We have an idea for the Colfax area but want to try and get the most info on any area we can hunt, with so much knowledge here I was hoping someone would give us some more advice for a day or two hunt in the middle that might pan out. We have hunted this area for a few years now and know it's 99% private land, anyone know someone willing to help us out with a good hunt would be great. Let me know on any GMU in this range..... :EAT: :EAT:

Post by: ellensburgpo on June 08, 2012, 11:36:05 PM: I drew it as well. If you need land to hunt on I'd start knocking on doors sooner rather then later. Seems like it would be easier to gain access for this tag as the rush of general season is past.

If you miss the rut you wont.see much! If the rut is on deer everywhere. Take a grunt call, bleat, and a set of horns to rattle. Good luck boys!

750 permits should make it fun. I will be hunting with my son so it will be fun just to shoot a legal deer.

very beautiful buck! im not good at judging whitetails, do you know what that deer scored?

Post by: sirmissalot on June 12, 2012, 08:40:05 AM: Lots of deer in the right areas. Really fun hunt. Like others have said, knock on doors a lot of farmers are more than willing to get some deer killed, shoot the deer, not the coyotes, wheat is how most these guys make a living.

I would guess 115-120. Great looking buck!

I knocked on doors in that area a few years ago and actually had more people say yes than no :yike:

Bosshogg, you don't need to do anything, just wait for your special permit to arrive in the mail. You need to have that permit with you when you're hunting, in addition to your tag.

You have to select your tag before you apply for permits.

All my stuff I buy online so it's all mailed.

What you actually got was a "permit" not a tag. (the one you drew)

The other one was your one and only tag.

We saw a couple bucks that I would consider giant, one of them just on the other side of some huntable land, and one on some gorgeous land we couldn't hunt. Saw several other shooter bucks, the only issue with this tag is access. My sister has the tag so I'm hoping to get her on a nice one

Post by: hambone on June 13, 2012, 07:50:55 AM: Down were i hunt there is some great bucks the one i shot some guy two year before shot his twin and the day after i shot mine i seen there daddy he is one really big buck . I have pic of some monster white tail bucks on property i cant hunt and i know the people that do hunt it they dont hunt it to hard would love to get on it i have a really bad pic taken at a long distance but that buck had to be 24 to 25 in wide and really tall i am going try to get pics this fall before season starts
