Title: Son drew Gardner deer tag .......... all help welcome :-)
Post by: Dan-o on June 09, 2012, 09:22:23 PM
My son drew the Gardner tag.   Not a "Quality Deer" tag, just a buck tag for rifle.

This GMU is up by Twisp.... actually Twisp looks to be in the NE corner of the unit.

So.........   I would gladly accept any info.     PM is preferred.

Ask around on this board and you should find that I've helped folks in the past.     Sorry if that offends you.    ;)

QUESTIONS FOR THE CRITICS:
1.   Do I know the unit like the back of my hand?
ANSWER:   No, but i did drive thru about 9-10 years ago.
2.   Do you really want me to detail to you my honey hole right down to the GPS coordinates?
ANSWER:    Actually, I'd prefer good old fashioned advice and location info......   I don't own a GPS.
3.   You shouldn't put in for tag in a GMU you're unfamiliar with!!!!!
ANSWER:   Uh, dude, that's not a question.  Get a grip.
4.   I'll bet you're just a road hunting jerk from the west side, huh?
ANSWER:   I try not to road hunt, but everywhere I drive there seems to be a road....    :dunno:
SERIOUS ANSWER:   Actually, I love to gt out and walk, but I'm getting older and fatter.   Steep is really       starting to suck for me.

PM's with information (general or specific) gladly accepted.

Dan-o out!

So since this isn't a "quality" tag I assume it's for whitetails?

Oh, and one more thing, you must have been looking at your map upside down or something- Twisp is in the SE corner of the unit.

Hey bob cat!

Yep, it's white tail only.......   and I am directionally challenged I guess.   Of course Twisp is in the SE corner.

Beautiful country.

I have hunted Gardner for the past 8 or more years. I cant help you much with whitetail as they seem to be down low. Always hunted mulies. Seen a couple does at 2300 ft once.  Need to start getting permission. Not a lot of public ground on the valley floor.
I think that would be a hard tag for whitetail unless you have private access.

Dan O

Don't know that gmu at all but hope you get some good info.  I personally have no problem helping people out and sharing information.  I am sure someone will share some information with you....just forget the nay sayers as they are typically envious of those who drew special permits.

I was just going to post the same thing, ghosthunter.

I'd be looking for some private land to hunt on.

Thanks, gents.

Does anybody have a good idea on rut timing for white tails there?   the hunt is Nov. 1-20.

I've seen more and more on the Gardner side of the Twisp river road every year. Higher and higher also. I had the Gardner Quality tag about ten years ago and saw some decent whitey bucks. Learn to rattle if you don't know how yet!

98% of the whitetails I have seen are on Private. Best rut hunting you will have on your tag will would be the 20th , gets better after that . Get permission for private.
