Title: Hornady Flextip loading?
Post by: Karl Blanchard on June 10, 2012, 09:08:36 AM
So I ordered some 165gr Hornady flextip bullets to reload for my 32 win spcl but they have no load data on their website (the only caliber they don't).  Does anyone have the 8th edition hornady reloading book?  I need to know if the load specs are the same for the flex tip as the are for  the 170gr Flat point.  Also what is the C.O.L for the flex tips.  I shot some factory's a few weeks ago and they were awesome!  Thanks in advance! :hello:

Looks like you were correct in that it uses the same load data as the 170gr flat tip.

The C.O.L. for the factory ones was probably saami specs. You'd do well to start there. Gotta love those FTX's.

Thanks guys!  I am excited to use this rifle deer season this year.  It was my grandpa's one and only rifle, a model 94,  he bought new in 1931!  He passed away last thanksgiving and he left me his rifle.  I can't shoot it nearly as good as him ( with his lymans peep he could hit my 12in steel plate at 300yds all day) but I have a second doe tag as well as an 11yr buck streak to keep in tact.  I think grandpa will be smiling by the end of deer season this year!
