Title: Bullets for Deer?
Post by: mp.hunter on June 11, 2012, 08:35:23 PM
Hey guys, quick question, I have purchased the Knight Bloodlines for my CVA .50. Just wondering if 300grn bullets is a little overkill for deer and if you think I can achieve the same trajectory as a 275 or 250 grn bullet? Thanks

The 300 grain might be an over kill - but nothing wrong with using it.

The 275 grain is probably the best all around bullet and yet still more than you would need with a deer...

The 250 is an excellent deer bullet...

As you move down in weight the trajectory will become flatter, but the energy will also be reduced, especially at the longer ranges...

I've been using Barnes TMZ 250 grain bullets for deer season the last several years and have had good success with them.  I need to order some of the Bloodlines bullets bullets to experiment with them.  I'm going back to archery for elk this year but I'd still like to be ready for a future season.
