Got drawn for the muzzle loader antler less deer tag for coweeman in late september. We've hunted elk there in the late season, but never deer that early. Are the gates locked? We came in from the Kalama river side, but is there a good way in from the rose valley road? Any advice would be much appreciated.

If they open the gates, you can access through end of Rose Valley Rd to the 1600 line, at the Headquarters Camp off Headquarters Rd, the 1600 line again, just other end, and the 4700 bridge gate off the 4100 rd in Toutle, and possibily the end of Sightly/Canal Rd in Toutle, to the 1300 rd area I believe. Good luck!

Thanks Blacktail Sniper. I'll check it out. The hunt is Sep 29 to Oct 7. Do you think the gates will be open? If the gate is locked is it a good place to ride in on mountain Bike?

We go in off little Kalama river road, Kalama river road, China garden rd, ect.....
A doe should be pretty easy to find.

Shoot one of the scroungy ones with hair loss. Help out the gene pool.

Having the Coweeman in my backyard and hunting it for the last few years I can tell you that its highly unlikely the gates will open before modern rifle opens. Strangly there is a high fire danger that always goes away when the modern opener rolls around even though its usually still dry and 70+ degrees. Im not complaining though, I like gates and putting some miles on the mnt. bike.
