Title: Looking for bowfishing bow advice
Post by: bearpaw on June 12, 2012, 10:58:52 PM: I haven't bowfished since I was young and back in those days we used a recurve with a zebco reel attached and the fishing line tied to the back of the arrow. :chuckle:

So I am planning a possible trip to Mississppi. Not sure it's going to happen yet, but it looks positive enough I better start drawing my bow (have a bad arm) to get the arm in shooting condition and start getting a few things together.

I used to shoot some very heavy draw bows but had to get a 45 lb alpine due to an arm injury during a hunt abroad.

So here's my question: Are there bowfishing outfits at that poundage that are any good that can be had without mortgaging the house? I am afraid that the guy I might be getting hooked up with probably don't have a bow with that light of draw weight.

I shoot higher weights because of my hunting and target bows. I like to build up some muscles and shoot the deeper fish. You can always find a good used recurve or compound and deck it out. Ams has some complete setups as well. you can get the best of the best rigged out for around 400.00 If you go used 200.00 can get you setup nice.

You know you have a open spot on my boat when I am running if you want to test a mako out. If you want to burn a couple hundred $ in gas to shoot some smelly carp :chuckle: The offer is always good :tup:

Thanks for advice and the offer. Someday I would love to load up a couple of my guides and take them out with you, we will set something up one of these days. :tup: :tup: :tup:

I read in one of the other topics that a guy bought a bow on ebay, for some reason I didn't think of looking there. Going to check it out now, will let you know if I see anything. My trip will happen sooner than later if it happens, so I gotta get on this right away.
