i am heading into the Buckhorn Winderness this weekend... gonna hike up the dungeness river trail past Camp Handy to Boulder Camp or there abouts. I want to explore the area around there a look for some critters.
anyone been up around there? any areas that i should spend some time glassing?

Check google earth and you can see the meadows that start just before Camp Handy. At CH you could also cross the river and there is a trail that takes you up to Goat Lake--you could glass all around up there. If you go to Boulder Camp, maybe make the side trip to marmot Pass or Buckhorn Pass. Lots of area to glass there. Expect full parking lots and lots of hikers/dogs.

sweet. thanks for the intel.
is the hike up to goat lake clearly marked? or will i be bush whacking it? anywhere to camp up there?

There is a log across the river that leads to a poorly maintained trail. It gains about 3K in a little over a mile if I remember correctly.
