It's weird, Steve. It's a very small area...maybe 30' across the highest point. Drop down a few feet from the summit and there's a large plateau where you can see forever in every direction. We had bluebird skies but the wind was cranking.

Don't know. Jr and I try to pick a new adventure every summer. We haven't come up with one for this summer yet. Love that picture in your previous post. That's right after tackling the false summit. Then you walk down into the saddle before the true summit and have to give up some hard-earned altitude. A little demoralizing... :chuckle:

Jackelope, no summits. Went to Everest Base Camp and above on day climbs. Just parasailed around Annapurna.
My sister lived in Kathmandu, Nepal for a couple years, so I had an awesome opportunity to climb with her.

Climb as many and as often as you can while you are able. The time will come too soon when you can't. My climbs were some of the best times of my life.

@ mtmn35rem5
That is a neat picture with the life jacket. It may be tough to get both the foreground and background in focus with a picture like that since you are so close to the lifejacket. The camera can't capture that much depth of field. Some things you could try and experiment with to capture that photo how you want is to stand further back from the life jacket, set your aperture as high as you can (not familar with your camera but f/18-f/22), using a tripod is a must, and focus about 1/3 into the scene. This is where manual focus comes in handy. When you focus this way it will look blury in the viewfinder but will come out good if done correctly. It can be done with autofocus but manual focus gives you much more control. It takes some practice but learning it is a ton of fun. I'm sure others will have some great advice.

Kodak Brownie from the front seat of my truck. lol
I used a few different lenses ranging from my 24-70 for Rainier right in front of me to the 400mm for Mt Baker. They were taken up in Hancock on the Eatonville side. From there I also see the Olympics and can look down into Tacoma and up the valley looking over the area in Auburn, Kent, Tukwila and into Seattle. If you look close you can see the tower at SeaTac in front of the Space Needle.

How about a Valentines Day Rainier view before this rain moved in?

Try downsizing the photo to around 800 x 800 ish. Usually when i have trouble uploading it's because I forgot to shrink it down a little.

Mike would you quit giving away your hunting areas.
Well, if you insist, Keith!
Just remember, the National Parks; Rainier, Olympic and North Cascades I have not, nor ever will be able to hunt within. Which the previous pictures were taken from that you refer to.
Admittedly, they do make adequate training/conditioning grounds for hunting the Glacier Peak , Buckhorn and Alpine Lakes wilderness areas. Not to mention decent places to capture passable images of :chuckle:

Here's a few. :)
