Got word Jerbear passed away this AM. If anyone lives close by Kathy May need comforting. Jerry was a great man with high ideals for us all.
-
OMG this is awful....
-
:'(
Terrible...RIP.
-
I am sitting here in tears... I just lost a friend..
He was a wonderful man, who never knew a stranger.. Had several meals at his house with his lovely wife Kathy.. I can not even imagine he is gone.. The world is a better place for his being here, and is now worse off that he is gone.
I hope someone is close enough to Kathy to see if she needs anything at all... She has to be devastated.
RIP my friend... I will miss you terribly.
-
No good :'(. Good luck at the happy hunting grounds brother....save some for the rest of us, for when we get there...
-
Very sorry to hear. He was a fixture here. RIP
-
So sorry to hear of his passing. Rest in Peace Jerbear

Very sorry to hear this. Jerry was a very generous man. Five years ago he let us camp out at his house, let us hang our deer in his garage, and one evening invited us into his home to have dinner with him and Kathy. I'm disappointed that I never got a chance to go back down and visit. Great guy and lots of us will be missing him.
-
Oh man that is horrible,
His family is in my prayers, We will miss you Jerbear.
-
Very sorry.
-
So sorry to hear that. RIP Jerbear.
-
That's very sad. RIP Jerry.

For those who didn't see it, this was Jerbear's last post, from two days ago:
Virtual Campfire / My Turn. Need Your Prayers
« on: December 10, 2013, 06:42:58 AM »
I have been slowly going down hill. Haven't hunted for deer or turkeys for the past two years. Been going to doctors in Hood River, paying big prices, but getting nothing in return. Got tired of it and went to a local doc in Goldendale. He is getting things done, but it may be too late. I was sent to the breathing clinic here in Goldendale, at the hospital. The gal that gave me the tests came into waiting room and put one of those oxygen things on my finger. It read 95 as it always does. We had walked about 30 feet and I was huffing and puffing, and she checked the thing again. All she said was,"You need oxygen. So here I sit today on oxy 24/7. Right now it looks like COPD. Had one of the high class clowns would have found this a few years ago, it would not be so bad. I am 74, so things are bound to happen. I have not smoked since 1980. Throw them away people. Will keep you posted.

I just got off the phone with Jerry's wife. As many know, I am a Pastor and Jerry and Cathie came to the church that I pastor. She said that he went the way he desired to go, at home with his wife. If anyone has a desire to make a donation to help her with the cost's of the funeral, or would like to send her a card, please contact me via PM or e-mail me and I will get you the information for that. Please pray for her as she goes through this difficult time.

I feel like I have just been shot in the gut. I feel I have lost a brother! I spent several seasons spring turkey hunting w/Jerry. I have sat at Jerry & Cathy's table for many a meal. He was a great Christian, American, Marine, Veteran, Police Officer & Fireman. The world will not see the likes of this great man again. As soon as funeral arrangements are made someone, anyone; please post to this thread.
My prayers go forth for Cathy, their daughters, & grandchildren.

We've never met, but your profile speaks of an amazing person with a lifelong passion for Hunting.
I especially like your very first post on Hunt-Wa:
on: March 03, 2007, 10:17:07 AM »
For all you turkey hunters out there, greetings. My name is Jerry Wilson, and my back yard joins the 14,000 acre Klickitat Wildlife Area. I am 68 years young and live for turkey hunting. The turkeys have had excellent winter survival this year. As my wife and I drive the road of the wild life area at least twice a week, we are seeing huge flocks of turkeys. Lots of jakes and a lot of long beards.
There are camping areas available in the wildlife area. You are allowed two turkeys in this area.
Contact me for any other information.
-
This is very sad news. Jerry was an asset to Hunt-WA and its members from the moment he signed up. He was always a strong advocate for our men and women in uniform protecting our country.
Prayers for his family. RIP Jerbear, you will be missed here on Hunt-WA. :'(
-
I read his last post the other day and said a prayer.
Now a prayer for Kathy and family.

-
I just keep thinking of his bride and how hard this temporary separation must be. Praying for the family.
-
So very saddened by this news. I met Jerry and Cathy back in 07 or so, time flies for sure, and I will never forget how helpful, kind, giving, knowledgeable, funny, and loving Jerry was ! He always made time for his friends, and those friends he had just met. They probably didnt realize what impact Jerry would have on them at that moment.
Jerry and Cathy always made time when I would stop by, and would often make me stay for dinner. I camped out in the spare bed a few times when hunting in the area, Jerry insisted.
I feel a deep loss, and such sadness for Cathy, Jerry was her ROCK !
Cathy, I pray for your comfort.
I have lost their number due to phone getting soaked, if someone can pass their number on I would appreciate it.
God speed my Brother !
-
Damn,,,,,, RIP Jerry. Our prayers to Cathy :'(

I will be going to see Cathie tomorrow sometime. As I receive her plans for a service and with her permission, I will post it here. I know that she appreciates all the prayer. I will be printing this thread out for her to read also if she so desires.
-
Rest in Peace Jerbear. My prayers go out to your family and friends.

I am in shock.
I have known Jerry for years from originally making contact on this site. What a great man. He wanted nothing more in life than to see others enjoy the Klick like he did. Wanted others to score a tom. Wanted others to get a deer. I remember the first time coming over to visit. Then, each and every time I was anywhere near his home, it was time to go see what was going on. Over the years, he and his wife Cathy took a liking to my kids and Jerry took us all over the countryside, just two years ago trying to put my kids on a bird. He fell in love with my box call, so I mailed him a new one for him to mess with. I spoke to Cathy and Jerry a few months back and was looking forward to this spring to get out with him again. He really wanted to get my kids out as I have been dealing with my cancer.
Cathy, if you read this, you already know what a great guy Jerry was. He set such a great example for us all. A great legacy he has left behind. He touched so many folks. He will be so missed. You know we all love you too. Prayers from my family in this difficult time.
Rest in peace Jerry.
Kevin, Kathi, Reece and Allison.

Jerry was my friend. Like so many others he and Cathy opened up his house to me and to my hunting buddies. Seven years ago Jerry and I went out turkey hunting as he helped me bag a big one. Two or three times a year I visited his little piece of paradise in the shadow of Mt. Adams. This past April we built the new chicken coop and put the little chickens and turkeys in the new space. He was a happy guy. Jerry and I both loved his dog Todd and when Todd passed away Jerry was a sad man. I watched him look worse and worse over the past couple of years but I always hoped that the next Doctor might find the secret.
Jerry was a great man, a man of honesty, integrity, generosity, and love for his wife Cathy. He and Cathy always treated me like a family member and for that I'm eternally grateful. I will miss Jerry very much. We spoke every few weeks and to not hear his gruff voice, his gentle spirit, his laugh cuts a big hole in my heart. "Jerry, I trust you are in a very special place now, one that allows you to walk high above Soda Springs, carry your shotgun, make those subtle turkey calls. I hope a big Tom walkes into your path. I only wish I could be there to cook an amazing turkey dinner for you. We will all miss you."
-
I got a kick out of the name he gave to the turkeys that would come by his place looking for hand-outs: He called them "Democrats". :chuckle:
-
Folks...check out the raffle that Wazukie has put together to help Jerry's family with the expenses.

I just got back from visiting with Cathie, it was a very good visit reminiscing over who Jerry was and the lives that he impacted. It's has already been said and known by many of you here, that Jerry knew no stranger, everyone was welcome in his home. I got her logged into this site so she could read the many encouraging words that have been posted here.
Many of you have asked me about a service for Jerry. As per his wishes, there will be a service in April of 2014(This coming spring) What a perfect time to come together and honor such a man. Do any of you know what happens in the Spring? Turkey Hunting! But even greater than that, Spring is reminiscent of "new life", and that is what Jerry is experiencing today as we remember him.
As time grows closer to April and plans begin to come together. I will be posting all the details for anyone who would like to be there.
Cathie sends her love and gratitude to each of you.

Jerry was number 20 here at huntwa, joining March 3rd 2007. He was here from the ground roots of this place, and as previously posted, his first post was a good indicator of the type of guy he was. Bless him and his family. His wisdom will be missed but not forgotten. As one of our most Senior members, I can tell you he was a Sage among men.

Had to post some pics.
First is Jerbear getting ready to call in a tom to my kids... (didn't work :chuckle: )
Second is a pic Jerry took of us on the youth hunt he was taking us on. He is going to be missed for sure. I was thinking of him today....hence the pics.....
He set a great example for me.

Great pic's and you are right, he will be missed.
THanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for all your kind words about my dad, jerbear. Hunting and fishing were certainly his true passion. As the oldest of his five daughters, again, we thank you very much. God bless each and every one of you.

your welcome he was a very good man to me

His five daughters and their families will be hosting a birthday party for him on February 8 the. Dad would have been 75 on that day and we want to celebrate with friends and family. The celebration will be at 2:00, February 8th in Yakima at Trinity Family Fellowship. It is located on the corner of Tieton and 13th ave. at 606 S. 13th Ave. Please wear what dad lived in, a good pair of worn out jeans, flannel or camo. Dad was an Elvis fan to the bone and passed that on to each one of us, so no church hymns at this party. Any ties will be cut off upon entry. Dad wouldn't have it any other way. Bring your stories and share. In lieu of flowers please make your donations to "member 20's" favorite site, this one of course! My sisters and I want to thank Cathleen for the go ahead to do this for our dad!
-
I don't think that your dad would cut my tie off if I wore it to his birthday party. But then again, he knew the only time I would wear one was in church. I pray that this party will help all 5 of you in the process of grieving your loss.
God bless.

I spoke with Jerbear once on the phone, he was a very nice, sincere ,and personable guy, I wished that I could have met him in person. I will not be able to make it to his party, but he will be in my thoughts. I think we should all be humbled that this site was so well liked by Jerbear. I wish him eternal hunting and fishing success.
