Looks like the lake still has the "Big" one.
-
What is the speculation? I hadn't seen/heard there was an issue. Muskie?
-
For years there have been stories of Snagger, this is one from a few years back.
-
We used to go every year, but missed last year. It is a hoot.

"Migrated from Alder Lake 6-8 years ago"
According to "your" thread from 2011,
http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php?topic=65418.0
Snagger was was already 20+ pounds in 2011, add seven years of growing :yike:
Average life span for rainbows is 6 years, longest ever recorded was 11 years,
The state record for a rainbow (including triploid) is 29.6 lbs
Snagger has to be not only the biggest rainbow ever caught in Washington, but the oldest as well!
:fishin:
-
Somebody get that snagger :violent1:

No one can be that bad at math. Unless they really want to believe.

This is something that has been part of this lake for as long as can be imagined.
-
I'll be there hope I get him
-
Mineral definitely holds some nice fish. I have not caught one over three pounds there, but I have seen two fish over ten pounds caught and many between 5-10 pounds.
The best part of fishing opening day at mineral is watching the boat ramp when all the drunks try to take out their boats, LOL.
-
I am ready for Snagger. I have my own poster.
-
I'm going to get him before you :fishin:
-
That fish is dead.
-
proof
-
Is this a invasive lake trout preying on local cutthroat scenario like you read about in Yellowstone?
Probably more like an invasive legend preying on local fishermen.
-
That fish is dead.
Probably, especially if it's fossilized, as per the previous pic.
-
My father lives there and we fish it every year and the brown trout in that lake get up to bout 14 lbs I've seen them and caught and lost them and seen other people catch them snagger is marketed to help the town and loins club make money :tup:there is big fish thou. fish it enery year I'm 35. The scars on those fish if it comes from mineral are the river otters that live there on occasion. good luck to everybody see you at the derby. Come and support the little town of mineral
-
Opening weekend @ Mineral Lake is a blast. Here is Bridget & Uncle Bob w/her big fish for the weekend from a couple years ago.
-
Killer smile, with a nice fish from the barbie pole!
-
Anyone plan on getting a derby ticket?
-
no derby this year :o
-
yep no derby :chuckle:
-
Wow! That was part of the fun.
-
You have to visit it anyway. Friday night and Saturday night visit the camp ground and Mineral Tavern. It is well worth the travel. Lot's of fun.

Nice fish cody!!!

Our biggest this year was a six-pounder in the boat also. Not enough to make the cut for the Derby, but it was the fun fishing trip again.
Got a few other fish in the two to three pound range also.
Used specifically the Brad's cut plug design for Kokanee man did that thing rock :IBCOOL: Used wedding ring on one rod got hardly any hits and switched over to the Brads and it was bringing on the bite.
I will admit that I am sold on the Breds Kokanee cut plug
