So I have a question about the raffle for Big Horn here in WA. I just moved here and would love to buy a raffle ticket or two but the question I have is are the odds just crazy to think I would ever win a tag even if I bought a raffle ticket every year? I'm glad the money goes to a good cause but I have a feeling I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Odds go up as you buy more. :chuckle:

Buy 3 or 4 hundred and you might have a chance.

Look here and you can see what your odds would have been last year:

We'd like to think that any of the raffle tags are "won" but most of them are bought. Occasionally they are won( @Gringo31 ) but that's a rarity. The norm is the guys who go in and buy several hundred raffle tickets and essentially buy them.

Can't win if you don't play. At least that's what the casino bosses tell me.

Looks like South Central Washington has the best odds for getting a tag but I'm guessing less tickets were bought there for a reason :dunno:

This was what I did last year. It's the first year I ever put in. My son was drawn for a cow moose so I decided it would be fun if we could both have tags and decided to buy 10 moose raffle tags. When I was there I picked a couple other categories where I purchased 1 ticket.
My advice is this. You should probably be on one end of the spectrum or the other. If I pay $100 for a mix match of tickets for the enjoyment of wondering, I see value in that. The other end is the guys who dump 12K in tickets but have a good chance of getting a premier elk, deer and sheep tag in one package.
I've asked myself if I should ever buy another ticket. Odds are horrible, my sheep was one in 3802! But, you still face the old "what if"? Fact is tho, I won't for sheep anyway.......too cool of an experience to "double up" on when doing so shorts someone else :twocents:

Have they started selling raffle tickets yet? Or does that start closer to when the regs are available?

Odds are tough but lighting does strike once and a while. Gringo drew with one ticket and I drew with 4. You never know! I know I will be buying a few again to see if lighting strikes again...

you wont win unless you buy one . when I one I had about 60tickets I was number one and runner up .since then Todd has loaded it so I have not played his game.
