So I bought my tags today and put in for my permits. I noticed I got emailed a receipt for my tags and I was charged the additional $10 for not filing my report for last year. When I created my account it shows I did not submit my elk report for last year and also same for my wife when in fact I know that's bs because I did my tags, wife's, brothers, dads, moms reporting at the end of archery season. When trying to submit my picks for second deer, I got an error stating I don't have the right tag (modern firearm). Well duh I purchased a archery tag and was never asked either or. Called the store up they couldn't help me. I will be calling the wildlife department tomorrow. Did anyone else have similar issues. It pisses me off that this state can't get their crap together. Just another reason in a long list why I'll be looking in Idaho when I move in 2-3 years.
-
yup similar issue, wouldn't let me pick which weapon or side of state for my dads deer and elk. Calling today as well. I would suggest you guys put in now for permits, don't wait till the last couple days because you could experience problems and we don't need a delay in permit results.
-
Ok, new system sucks again! Just got off the phone with them, I have to go to a dealer and have them cancel my dads deer and elk tags so they can do the process again! The guy said it's been happening a bit with the new site. What a pain, this years draw is going to be a mess! I bet we don't get results till July!
-
To think these guys get a fair amount of money to run this process also.
-
I just bought my deer and elk tags, and special permit applications. All went well until I clicked "Submit" and the "Oh Deer" screen displayed. I called WDFW and they said the order went through fine: it just has "hiccups from time to time and displays that message."
How in the heck can anyone have confidence in a system that displays error messages when it shouldn't?

I will put 20 on August.

It would be an inspiration to Stephen King.

Soooooo, I go to a dealer here in Des Moines (Fred Meyer), and they haven't been able to log on to fish n game website for a couple weeks now. Mother..... ok, 99% sure I fricin hate this system.
-
I received both my Deer and Elk tags with no Weapon choice stated, and elk doesn't have which Eat/West stated.
I can't submit my apps because of it. I know I selected Modern for both and East for Elk, but I guess it didn't go thru.
Hopefully I don't have to pay a dealer fee to have it fixed
-
I just purchased a deer tag and special permit applications for my son. For his deer tag it allowed checking all three: modern, archery, and muzzleloaders. It should only allow one. Obviously some sloppy coding and testing.
-
So is the problem only in the online purchasing? Is Submitting everything smooth so far?
-
I have zero confidence in our submittals this year, much less everything else.
-
Just went back to Fredmeyer today and they cancelled everything and reprinted everything for me. I'll re submit my draws today! I thought this was a single incident but apparently I was wrong, geeze!
-
I just got done setting up my uncle's new WDFW account and purchasing his deer license, and submitting an application for an antlerless deer permit. All went smoothly, just as my purchase for my own licenses and applications did a couple weeks ago. I guess the only thing that could go wrong now is that they don't send him the correct license and/or tag. Really liking the new system.

I purchased and submitted everything tonight.. couple hiccups, but got it done. I noticed that my points are the same as last year (13) anyone else have the same points or will an point be added prior to the draw? Maybe I'm wrong or an idiot, but I thought when you submitted a a new app. it automatically added a point from the previous year??
-
Only good news is that your odds of drawing don't really go down if you aren't entered, you just save a few bucks.

Yes, you will gain one point before the draw. When you will actually see that point, I don't know. There is a date given for each category for when the points were last updated. The date I see on mine is 12/18/2016. I would assume that at some time before the draw, or possibly just after the draw occurs, you will see the additional point added to each category in which you applied.

I purchased my license and tags at Big 5 this morning, no issues so far. Gonna buy my apps tonight or tomorrow morning. Hope all goes well.
-
Buddy of mine said he had all sorts of inaccurate details regarding previous year's purchases. And he said he wasn't given the option to put in for points only.
Anybody else have this happen? Or did he just need to submit differently?
I bought all my tags w no problems at my local Freddie's but I'm apprehensive about submitting for special hunts now...
-
You guys having no problems are lucky, I just spent 45 minutes at the burien fredmeyer . The lady at the counter was on the phone with Wdfw for 1/2 waiting for them to pick up. Then after 15 more minutes they couldn't fix my problem and they took my phone number, they'll call me when it's fixed!!! :bash: the guy at Wdfw said they are having a big meeting today about the issues. You guys that procrastinate with buying tags and submitting apps, you might not want to this year!
-
Purchased all my tags and special permits flawlessly... I did notice when I searched my points that the system shows I have points for all kinds of stuff that I have never purchased, like 65 and older, master hunter, youth antlerless all which I am none of. :dunno:

Same here.. pretty random too. 5 points, 3 points, 6 points on stuff I've never applied for.

I purchased my daughters license/apps today and found a glitch in the system.
When you purchase the apps, you click the "Added (1)" icon and then get a "max quantity reached" pop up, then that icon fades and is no longer available.
When I got to the Any Moose icon I clicked it but the slow wifi where I was didn't go through right away so I clicked it again thinking it just didn't get register. Well when I clicked it the second time, it added a additional application and increased my running $ total.
I thought this was weird so I tried it a few more times and each time I clicked it the app and $ total increased. I finally stopped at 10 and called WDFW to let them know.
After talking to them I removed the 10 apps from my cart and tried again, they quickly got it fixed.

Jimmer and luv2hunt, When the draw system changed to multiple categories years ago, that's when you received points in those categories . Everyone did, this new system allows you to see them is all.

Why would I receive points for 65 and older when I'm only 51?

i guess to make it easier for them they gave whatever points you had to all categories . You probably have youth points as well, I do and I'm 47. Those points will be waiting for you when you turn 65.

Because at the time there was one idiot in particular working for the WDFW who came up with this ridiculous plan, and then lied and said that they had the support of the majority of the hunters.
-
I bought all mine online and special permits. Got all.my correct tags and everything in the mail 7 days later. Worked great for me 😁

It happened in 2010 when the multiple categories were implemented. Someone with 10 elk points got 10 points in all the elk categories, as an example.

I purchased and submitted all of my special permit apps except for Qbull which I will be pairing up with a buddy on. There were no issues throughout the process. I am finding that I like the new system. Atleast until the "not selected" shows up anyway.
-
I had no issues at all purchasing and submitting. From my personal experience, I like the new system. Reading all these weird quirks makes me a little uneasy, especially the 10 moose permit applications for 1 person.
Fingers crossed everything works out ok. I can't wait to see how many people blame the new system when they don't draw.
-
System worked well for me and my son. Good luck everyone.

Update on my tag extravaganza! So Monday I called fish and wildlife as the dealer told me I would need to do. After telling the guy my issues and him looking everything up for 20 minutes (after holding for almost 20 minutes) 40 total. I was told I needed to go back to the dealer to have them cancel my tags and give me new ones. Also the $10 charges my wife and I had he could not do anything about because I didn't save my confirmation number (last time I don't do that) and there is no way for them to look me up in the old system only if I had my confirmation #, wtf that's bs if you ask me. Even though all of our tags are literally a minute difference in me submitting them he accused me of not clicking submit on both our elk tags which it just crap. I go why would I not click submit only for elk tags out of all the tags I reported...... he says I don't know that's wierd though because our systems were tested multiple times without failiers so it's not our system..... screw you fish and wildlife... I go back to the dealer and they have to call fish and wildlife to fix it as the previous person I had talked to instructed. I spent 45 minutes there.... dealer talked to 2 different wildlife people, neither of them communicating well for what the issue was till finally I said give me the damn phone and I talked to them and basically fixed it myself at the store..... wtf. Very disappointed in our system and state. I should bill the state for 2 hours of labor and fuel to drive back to the dealer. I will be ordering tags online next year because the first guy I talked to said if I had done that he could fix my tags for me but since I bought them at a dealer I needed to go there.... dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. It's all computerised!
-
I just read the harvest report thread. Clicked the link. Said a telephone survey was performed to hunters who did not submit a report. Looks like I'm calling back tomorrow because my wife or I never received one so they obviously had reports I did! They better keep proof of calling, I'm getting my damn money back! If they don't then I am still in the right!
-

The same thing happened to me... I emailed WDFW and received a call the next business day. They straightened it all out on the phone, and a few hours later I received an email letting me know that I had purchased my transport tags (again!!!). That allowed me to submit my Special Hunt apps.
By my experience I'd say WDFW is aware of the BS that is happening. How easily someone can resolve their problem probably depends on the person that you get in contact with at WDFW...
Good luck to all that have been having issues. DO NOT wait to contact WDFW if you are having a problem...

I purchased and submitted all of my special permit apps except for Qbull which I will be pairing up with a buddy on. There were no issues throughout the process. I am finding that I like the new system. Atleast until the "not selected" shows up anyway.
So my buddy created a group app for our Qbull tags as the leader. He added my wild ID and my app was automatically added. Just checked to verify, all looks good! I like it!
Good luck to all in the draws this year! I hope the issues some are dealing with don't hinder anyones chances!
-
Bought and submitted my two kids and myself for everything we could, went flawless. I really like the new system, much easier to use than the old one or going to the store and standing in line for an hour while someone punches on a screen and can't find stuff.
-
Man you either love the new system or hate it, it's amazing how well it goes for some and how bad for others?! After fixing my dads mess I'm curios to see how mine goes, the lady from Wdfw said if I notice any odd things while I'm buying my apps to back out and start over. Obviously the system has bugs, hopefully these are just growing pains and it's smooth as silk next year.
-

Start holding your breath. :chuckle:
-
I purchased all of my tags in January. It was smooth.
When I opened the envelope, I was missing a deer tag and window permit. I emailed and they sent me the missing items.
For me, everything has been smooth.
-
I'm curious to know how many extra moose permits were purchased before they fixed it.
-
Talked to a different person today to try and get my late reporting fee back. Same answer can't do it without the verification code yet admitted there were people who could look my information up in the old system, after admitting that he then changed his answer back to they still needs to code for that person to look up my history even though they could look me up..... and then he just stopped talking really. Basically just bsing me around. WA is just a bunch of thieves.
-
Okay, I gotta take back what I said before, that I had no issues with purchasing my licenses and submitting applications. It's been almost 4 weeks since I received my envelope from the WDFW and when I got it I knew what it was so I just put it in a safe place without opening it. I've never had any problems before, but tonight I opened the envelope to see what they sent me. Hunting license, yes, deer tag, yes, elk tag yes. Umm... but what about my bear and cougar tags? Nope, nowhere to be found. Dang it, gotta call them on Monday. They better not charge me for replacements. >:(

Yes. Dave Ware. He retired.

It's just my opinion but i feel this plan is awesome or at least it will be when the bugs get worked out.We can't blame the system or the guy that came up with it can we?At this point it is the people doing it and the program that is causing the problems.Remember the old system didn't work right all the time either.
-
Thanks bobcat.
-
yep, the system claimed i didn't send in a report. baloney,i couldn't purchase tags and apps until they collected the money. is there an 800 number to call and complain ?

Unless you kept your confirmation number your out of luck like I was. Hope you have it still and if not start keeping it like I will be......
-
Me too on my son's deer report from last year. I always report these, and write the number down, of course who knows where that number is now....
This year, I took photos of my confirmation ordering screens and will do the same of my reporting conf. #.
-
We all have cell phones,i always snap a pic of all my hunting stuff (now its even easier with the new system) and put it in a hunting file in my phone, when needed its always there.

Got my tags and licenses in the mail, but on the license where it used to have what special apps youve purchased below deer elk bear cougar discount small game etc. It doesnt say i purchased them but already submitted and shows in my account, is this thd new norm?
