After a total of 2 trip and 6 days hunting and 7 ish multiple blown stalks ( for one reason or another) I finally tagged up.
Spotted quite a few bears in that time. Sows w cubs. Larger cubs flying solo at 60 yds( let him walk). And a platinum blond bear I named Jenny McCarthy. Im sure it had to be a female. I did shoot at her but had my scope set a way longer range and shot over her. She stood there at 70 ish yds and then busted out.
I got to see a bear I named "waddles". Waddles lived in the bottom of a big ass canyon and only came out one night right at dark. He was so big he couldnt walk right and only could waddle... hence "waddles. I was going to introduce my self the next am but he must not have got the memo.
First kill with my custom built 6.5x284. The action was taken off one of my old hunting partners rifles who is handicapped now and unable to hunt.
I stalked this bear 2 other times before I could get a shot.. 3rd times a charm. I
Closed the distance from over 450yds and poor openings, to a comfortable 300 ish. Stayed low, Exo pack for a rest, and bear down.
Im not a good judge on bear weight. But I do know he was old and grey. He only had one of his posterior canine teeth left (the one you mail in to the state). The other was worn out gums. This was my second bear. Im proud and blessed to have harvested such an old warrior.
First 2 are "waddles.
Then a blown stalk bear.
Then old grey face.

Be sure to post the age when you get the results. Be interesting to see how old he was.

Congrats. Nice work on the bear.

Does that bear have a long tail or is that just an optical illusion?
