Looks like we may head up to Brewster Saturday. May as well give it a try...Anyone else going up?
-
Hoping to get over the following weekend. Let us know how you do. Good luck! Bummed to hear they closed the free camping and boat launch at Wells. I wasn't able to make it last year due to weddings. I'm itching to get back over.

Not sure there's gonna be any decent fishing this year on the upper Columbia. We usually catch a freezer full of sockeye and a few kings. Don't know if I'm even gonna buy a license this year. Sockeye are at about 1/5 of what was over Bonneville this time last year. Kings are down too and with the high water flows I don't think they'll stack up anywhere
-
No thanks to sockeye . Chasing kings and will be over there, but not in the Brewster pool. Okanogan river last I heard was in the 50's which means no fish hold in the Brewster pool they cruise by in that massive amount of water equals low success.
-
Yes it's still cold and flowing fast
-
Good info, thanks you guys. Chelan sounds like it may be a better option.
-
Chelan Falls or below Wells Dam will be the only place any fish will be caught. Okanogan still muddy and way cold.Surface temp only 63 degrees.Plus low fish counts over Wells. :(
-
I doubt anyone gonna be fishing below Wells unless they got a really big boat. :). Water was still ripping last I heard. Not fun fishing with 3 ft waves. I know. :). Chelan falls could be ok
-
Bear you need to fish wells when they close spillways. The last 2 Saturdays.
-
I've got 8 acres 1 1/2 miles below the dam that I launch my boat from. The last few years we've been spoiled with good fishing conditions below the dam. I usually fish about 8 to 12 days a year there. I remember about 4 years ago when the boat launch was closed because of the waves coming from the dam. Obviously the new launch won't be a problem. It gets pretty wild when the water is rolling through!

My buddys GF lured him away from our planned trip this Saturday. It sucks when your pal gets a new female and has no time to fish. Guess I will stay home and man a firetruck.

Had a guy whip around me Thursday over on Mae Valley. I wondered what sort of idiot this was..... then he turned in to the volunteer fire station and put on his helmet. Shame those volunteers aren't authorized flashing lights to clear traffic. That must have been the Blue Heron fire.
-
Bill, Vehicle description? Was the driving dangerous? Probably was responding to the station for the Blue Heron fire. It just so happens I know that stations LT pretty well, maybe this could be a positive teaching moment on POV response to the station. It would be nice to have a way to request the right of way for Volunteer FFs responding to the stations, but not sure how to curb the urge to go over posted speed limits while responding.

I wouldn't say he was driving unsafe. It's just that I didn't expect it.
-
Drove by the "pool" last night on the way home from the cabin, only about 6 boats out there at 6:30 in the evening, guessing fishing is not that great :dunno:. Usually there would be a LOT more if fishing is hot.

That would be awesome.

That would be great...i'm sure it will be a zoo with all the boats.
-
Zoo will be understatement :chuckle: probably already boats launching

Though places like Brewster can handle a lot of boats so it won't be bad there.
-
Boats are stacking up in the pool, how's the fishing?
-
We were thinking about trying the derby this year, but it's pretty pricey and a long drive. Then again, if good reports start coming in....

We got one wild to the boat last Friday. The king hit in the first 20 min of fishing. I was my little girls first battle with a king. That was the only king we got in 3 days. Caught a lot of sockeye on king gear Friday, kind of a pain to get those frisky things off at the side of the boat. Nets went in Friday night and Saturday night. The fishing went flat for us on Saturday morning and Sunday morning, couple sockeye and that was it. Saw a lot of people, including guides, fishing sockeye gear, and catching quite a few sockeye. Not many kings. One keeper was checked at the Brewster launch by 9am Sunday. We marked a lot of fish, just did not get the bites.

just read you can keep one unclipped king on the wdfw site
