Hope I'm not being too forward or asking for too much info.... but how much money do all those furs bring in? I know some guys do it for the challenge but just wondering what a haul like that would bring in money wise? Is it more of a project to keep you busy during the off season and whatever money you make off the furs just pays for the equipment and fuel spent to get them? If you don't want to answer on here and would rather PM me that would be fine. I'm just curious. I don't have the time or patience to do trapping but find it very interesting and you have some VERY nice looking furs! I especially like the bobcats!

You'll have to do the math but those beavers will probably average no more then $15. Hope I am wrong. I sold my cats for $50 each and otters for $40 each. Mink, probably less then $10 average and the rats maybe $3 average although I have had some reports of some going for nearer $4. I kind of think it was an anomaly though.

So basically trapping is more of a way to get out into the woods more and pay for the gas and gear to do so. Maybe I will look into it a bit more. I'm always looking for an excuse to get out into the mountains and learn more!

For everyone it's different  :dunno: for me it's not about the money but it is nice to get a little back at the end of the season but it doesn't even touch what i spend so it's kinda like hunting . I started when I was a young kid and it's just part of who I am. I truly enjoy high mountain trapping cats and marten the most and a close 2nd is mink and muskrat trapping . When I'm heading out checking traps it's like Christmas morning every time and I get that same excitement with every trap and it's never changed abit otherwise I wouldn't do it .it's a lot of work, time and money involved but the end of the season comes quickly and next thing you know it's April and you got another 8-9 months to go before you get to do it again.
When I was a kid a good westside cat would get $75-$125 and a gallon of gas was under $1.00 so go figure that one out . I get some furs tanned and sell them or give them to friends or get stuff made out of them!!
Well I guess I could sit in the bar every night or run a trap line Hmmmm it's a no brainer to me

Wish you guys would get up the valley more there is an abundance of bob's. Maybe you could trap some of the beavers the state paid the Tulalips to relocate up there also.

  Great looking fur!  Your reasons for trapping are right on, too.

PS:  And sometimes those beavers just have to build a dam in the creek by our property.
