Title: Family camping/fishing in the Methow area in May?
Post by: JeffRaines on April 28, 2019, 03:55:15 PM
Hey guys,

Me and the wife typically take a camping trip around this time every year... this year its coming a little earlier because I have a spring bear tag to hunt as well as switching jobs for some more free time.

In any case, my 2 year old keeps wanting to go fishing. I typically hike into alpine lakes and fish, and I have no problem taking her with but its a bit early. I figure a 2-3 day camping trip where I can bring out the big tent, hit some lakes and hikes would be nice... I've always wanted to visit the Methow area, so I figure what better time?

I'd prefer something more 'out of the way' than your standard in-town campground. I seen buck lake on the map and that looks pretty cool. Are there any other lakes in the area like it? Any other places I should consider in the area?

We don't need potable water nor facilities, so even if you know of a cool place on public land somewhere that would also work.

Thanks in advance.

edit - I'm open to anyplace along/off 20. Outside of Twisp, Winthrop, Mazama, etc. All sounds great

You really can't go wrong. There are cool places to camp everywhere over here. I would just plan on driving over early in the day and spend some time looking around to find what you like.
