Title: Where would you hunt if you had the westside "incentive tag" first? Elk.
Post by: Kent Hunter on May 03, 2019, 01:22:48 AM
Just wondering where you guys would start hunting if you got this tag. It's the tag you can get for reporting your harvest reports early. Westside elk. I know the guy that has one of the two westside permits. He's 62 yo. Can't do the rugged stuff anymore.  :chuckle:

The Kapowsin Tree Farm if allowable. He would have to buy a pass, but hands down for the best westside bulls.

Right out of the gate. Especially if he has a couple people to help.

Hancock won’t let those type of tags hunt elk on their land, not even multi season elk. It would be legal in the states eyes because it’s an open unit, and if you buy the pass you wouldn’t be trespassing, they will just never let you back on the property. At his age, it would be worth it!  The land is closed during the 3 regular elk seasons. I wouldn’t tell the security guy what your hunting, Clyde will pull your pass.

You could still be hit with hunting while trespassing if the pass you have stated you aren’t allowed to hunt elk.  :twocents:

If that was the case then I wouldn’t try it, but it is something to ask a lawyer about.

418 is open

Incentive permits are valid for areas open to general hunting seasons or special permit hunting seasons.

If the incentive tag holder gets a hold of WDFW in La Conner the office may be able to connect you with farmers in the skagit valley  who have elk issues. There are some good bulls down low.
