I have a leupold mark 4 that I am looking to sell. 6.5-20x50. I killed a buck at 730 yards last fall with it.

Would save some of your optics budget too. Pm me if you like.

If you are only using for elk, i recommend a big bore, if you are cross functional weapon different options. Have not had to take bulls past 300yds ever, so scope accordingly. i run 2x10 and in brush quick aim is important to me but works fine at ranges discussed. again, your decision on what and how. btw, i run a 375H&H 300gr accubonds in open and 300 gr fmj in brush (poi is consistent), guys will say "no expansion" but when you punch a pinky size hole from any direction through and through regardless of brush, who cares? have never had an issue or loss/miss. Its deadly~

I don't think it's illegal, but i don't advise it.

I have a Ruger M77 338 WinMag custom that I may be interested in letting go. I love the rifle but it has just been sitting the last few years. It was built by Brown Precision in the 80's I think. Custom barrel, custom Stainless brake, all exterior surfaces are teflon coated by Brown Precision (except the action sliding parts). Custom fiberglass bedded stock (Brown Precision). Barrel is 20" threaded so I think it is like 22" overall length or so with the brake. For recoil, it shoots like an ottsix to me and is very accurate. I am unsure of the round count but has taken 4 bulls and I personally have put probably about 100 rounds down range. Leupold VariX iii 1.75-6x32 scope mounted on it. Have some ammo to go with it. $1000
Can PM pics if interested.

If I didn't already have 3 or 4 elk rifles I may be interested. But there are some nice rifles here for sale. The Vanguard 300 wm is probably the best deal on here and you can then buy a $1500 scope to go with it and still be under $2g for your dedicated elk rifle. But there are some really nice rilfes for a little more money here but under OP budget too. Not sure the caliber the OP is really focused on.

I've got a Kimber .325 WSM that was won at a banquet that I've decided to sell, it's just like new, less than a box shot thorugh it, if you are remotely interested I'll get you an exact model, description, and a price that's under $1000.
