Hey guys looking for suggestions & opinions for our new little chocolate male coming home in about 10 days. Here’s a few details to help the decision.
Mother is a chocolate named Tikka & dad is a charcoal named Trigger. Our current chocolate is Gunner. Naturally with Tikka being the mother & the gun name theme being throughout, I thought Sako was a no brainer & pronouncing it with a long A like most people mispronounce the rifle company. The wife is fighting me a little & quite a few people were lukewarm to Sako as well. Other names I somewhat like are Remmy,Hunter & Ranger.
So we need some help. Opinions on the names I listed & some suggestions from the huntwa family would be a huge help.

Here are a few for you to try out. Maxus, Iver, Higgins, Daly, Ljutic, Briley, Luger, Marlin, Midas, Nosler, Rossi, Ruger, Colt, and my all time favorite....Stoner. You call that name in the field and you might get more of a response than you care for though.

Cooper
-
Deeogy
:chuckle: :chuckle:

I think sako fits pretty darn well, I’d stick w that. I’m partial to Rocky, miss my boy still. :'(
-
Ruger, Sig, Ackley
Or Creedmore :chuckle:
-
Out of the names you proposed, I like Ranger.
-
Bond
Bond Arms

I like historical names since I am a bit of a history buff. Two I have liked if I ever got a male lab was Lincoln and call him Link or Gatsby.
-
Since you already have a dog name it spare dog
-
Browning
-
“Shotgun”
“Ammo”
“Buckshot”
“Private”
These names are Proven winners !

Duck, Goose, Quail, etc

Today’s play date with Gunner. Had to take a break!🤣

Our 2 dogs right now are Boone and Gunner. Boone is the best dog I’ve ever had so I’ll be retiring that name permanently when he’s gone. Not really a gun name but I’m partial to it. Like Curly said Cooper is a great gun name, only problem is it’s also a popular girls name these days :chuckle:

The wife has sent out the ballot to all the kids & friends. Sako,Bo or Jake. So far it’s about a 3 way tie. :bash:
Cast your votes folks.

For training reasons I wouldn’t name a dog Bo, sounds too close to NO. And sako or sAko doesn’t roll of the tongue well. I send my retrievers on their name. Jake gets my vote.
-
That’s a great point on Bo.
-
Crockett.
-
My lab is named Bo and I haven't had any problems mixing no and bo. I like the name Sig and Ike. Do yourself a favor and keep it one syllable.
-
We had a great dog named Jake. Great name.
-
What about combining Bo and Jake. You'd get Joe. You could call him Joe or Joey which both sound good to me.
-
Well after all that, the whole clan has unanimously agreed on Drake. :chuckle: :dunno: Thanks to all for the suggestions & opinions.
-
You named your dog after a R and B hippety hop singing from Canada? :dunno:
I thought you were looking for an ooutdoor related name. :P :chuckle:
-
:yike: he's a walking curse!!! Look it up, the Drake curse. :bdid:
-
Congrats on the pup and that is a fine name.
-
Drake is a great name
-
:chuckle: never heard of the dude that’s the bad luck rapper. Obviously we were thinking ducks. :chuckle: After having him this weekend the name fits him. Think he’s gonna be another dandy like my old Gunner dog.
-
Nitro!

I never said anything about the trainer mixing up No and Bo, I was referring to the dog. You’re dog may have no issues with the similar sounds, I’ve seen some that have.

I have always liked the name Enzo or windzer
-
We named ours after the type of tree we pick her out under...Cedar.
Have fun

Not Maverick, like my wife named our GSP (self fulfilling prophesy?) Naw he has not been that bad. Nut wagon comes to mind. Mighty dog, Wobbie boy (he carries his wobbie to bed).
