Dan Agnew's 2019 Monster San Carlos Bull
450 2/8" gross
433 5/8" net
-
Wow !!!!
-
😳
-
What a tank!
-
Reminds me a lot of the last two bulls I've shot, pretty sure my two combined would score right with him.
Beautiful bull!
-
Wow
-
Yeah I'd say that's a shooter! Wow!
-
Awesome bull. Same size as his wa bull!
-
Dandy Bull.
-
Those thirds have gotta be pushing 30”.
-
Holy Smokes! Tagging that would put a smile on my face.
Saw another of his San Carlos bulls at RMEF headquarters a few days ago. Incredible!
-
Id love to see his trophy room
-
Another incredible bull.
-
The average person shoots something like that and you just drop the mic and walk off the stage, but I don't think this guy has the average hunters size check book, so in that case, you keep pursuing the next bigger one.
That is a gorgeous, once in a lifetime, bull !!!
-
Id love to see his trophy room
.
:yeah: that’s what I was thinking!
-
When you have the money to pay for these bulls, you get what you want.

I think he has a 412", and a 436" in Washington, a couple years apart.

I miss spoke, i guess his 2010 bull was a 409" 6x7 out of washington.
-
Walking up on a bull like that has to be quite sight! Congrats to the hunter
-
Wow!
-
He certainly bought a nice bull
-
Amazing Bull! Congrats Dan!

The guy sure shoots some monsters.
Congrats to him.
Green is not a good color on some.

:yeah:
:yeah: If I had his money, I'd take guys who have never killed a bull and guide them, that would be fulfilling. Congrats on another bought bull, might as well hunt high fence.
[/quote]
Maybe he does take guys out?! I’m in the same boat as you jerry it is a blast taking first time hunters out
-
Great googly moogly what a bull
-
Some jealous people in this thread.

Some jealous people in this thread.
Know the facts before you say people are jealous.
-
Some folks need to learn this isn’t Facebook. The smack talk is unwanted, unnecessary and if we want to get technical, against the rules. Some of you have been warned over and over again and ya still can’t knock it off. Until y’all start throwing huge money at elk conservation, you should learn to step away from the keyboard once in a while.
-
That Bull is one of the most impressive Bulls I have ever seen!
-
great bull, prob not a great story. Not jealous, just not impressed. I’m glad his money’s help with conservation! But all our hard earned money helps, if we could give more, we would. Congrats to the shooter!
-
Deleted most of what I wanted to say, great bull, prob not a great story. Not jealous, just not impressed. I’m glad his money’s help with conservation! But all our hard earned money helps, if we could give more, we would. Congrats to the shooter!
You’d give more, but you would you take an elk tag in exchange for your donation?
-
If I could, I’d give without expecting an elk tag. But I don’t make that kind of money so what do I know?
-

You may not be jealous........ but your negativity sure comes across that way.
You have no idea if it was the most epic hunt of a lifetime, but your "not Jealous" comments are obviously meant to discount this man's hunt.
You should resist diminishing another hunter's accomplishment.
-
I remember the same hunter flying in the day before one of his dozen guides found his bull in the blues, shot the 400” plus bull and then flew out. Great story. Id rather hear a story of some guy who worked his butt off killing a 280” bull, but that’s just me. Sure, prob a bit jealous, but not of the hunt.
-
what a TOAD! And off to my annual spike hunt I go.
-
I hope it was the best hunt of his life
Amazing animal
-
My only point in bickering is that this guy has done more for wildlife conservation in his life than possibly the rest of us combined. To bad mouth him or put down his elk harvests because they were accomplished by the same money that he gives back to that wildlife and hunting and conservation seems kinda like nonsense to me. Where would the rest of us hunters be without that money going to our herds?

So should I try to join the Wild Sheep Foundation? Or is that a waste of money?

And your point is spot on! We hunters are way to quick to eat each other alive. We are way small in numbers and need to stand together.
-
Sure is a beautiful bull, congrats to him
-
Epic bull
-
Because it says San Carlos, does that mean this was an indian res hunt?
-
Because it says San Carlos, does that mean this was an indian res hunt?
I'm sure it was. Probably a $40k hunt.

Yeah probably all of that.
-
You’ll be a ways north of that for a bull that size.
-
The San Carlos Apache Reservation offers Trophy Elk hunting in three seperate units; the Drylake, Hilltop, and Ninemile, each of which are nearly half a million acres each.
Chairman's Elk Permit Aug 1, 2018 - Dec 31, 2018 $187,000 All Elk Units 1
1st Trophy Elk September 1 - 17, 2018 $40,000 Drylake 2
1st Trophy Elk September 1 - 17, 2018 $40,000 Hilltop 2
1st Trophy Elk September 1 - 17, 2018 $40,000 Nine Mile 2
-
I applaud his contributions, don’t mean to sound negative.
-

I would pay $40k for that hunt and a bull like that. Auction tag here this year went for $55,000.
-
40k isn’t going to get you what will probably be the biggest bull shot on the San Carlos this year.
-
Don't need to see the numbers to know that thing is massive. Wow!
-

I'm assuming it's the San Carlos chairman's permit. I can't find the 2019 one, but in 2015 it sold for $155k and a tribal guide is required....

just wow that hunt has been on my list for years
-
That bull is unreal. Would love to see more pictures

Easily over 300k then his guide is prob more, and yes it’s on the San Carlos Reservation. Homer finds the elk he fly’s in and shoots them. Flys out with the head and cape. Gives the meat to the people, but I can say one thing he’s a great man in my eyes for giving back to a San Carlos Nation when he really don’t have to. sure he’s getting elk from their Rez but no elk is worth 300k!!! He’s actually built the demand along with his guide and their family. Ya not a great hunting story, but a great life story!!!
-
I was there on that hunt. I have been going there for over 30 years. Some think you just sit on a meadow and wait for 400 plus inch bulls to walk out every hunt but it is not like that. These bulls are wild free ranging elk. It is a real hunt. The hunters face the same issues we all face such as drought conditions and poor rut activity. Many hunters choose not to fill their tags some years.
Yes these hunts cost a lot of money but we should all be mindful for all the great conservation work that is done on the San Carlos. This would not happen if not for Dan. His generosity benefits the elk population as well as the population of the San Carlos who I consider my friends. It is the best place in the United States to hunt elk. They limit the number of tags so the elk can reach maturity.
I think Dan and the San Carlos Department of Wildlife should be applauded for all the great work they do.
-
I applaud Dan for living the dream, and supporting many levels of elk conservation.
-
That would be an amazing bull to see on the hoof. Wowzhers
-
Not very familiar with Dan Agnew - does he do much with SCI or other groups? Does dumping an s-ton of money into a native tribe really help public herds?
Not trying to stir a pot, but I really am curious here. I heard some rumblings about a lot of guys who just pay for hunts like these where the money doesn't really go toward "conservation" like our contributions do.
-
If I had the finances to do it you'd see my smiling face behind every big animal on every hunt I had time to go on every single year (and that my wife would let me get away to go do :chuckle: ). I'm not sure I'd go on a single spike elk hunt in Eastern Washington again.

Thank you for chiming in. I appreciate and agree with your perspective. I don't understand how people can complain about how a guy spends the money he earned.
Dan Agnew has a couple bulls at RMEF and I'm pretty sure is a generous donor.
