Title: West Klickitat Snow Levels....
Post by: Dark2Dark on December 03, 2019, 10:20:53 AM
I know this is a long shot, but has anyone been over for late muzzleloader that could send me a snow report? Are animals starting to move down the hills there?

I am planning to get over there on the last day of the season with my dad to see if he can fill his tag (and I have a Christmas Tree Tag to fill).

It looks like snow level has been hanging around 4000 feet when there has been precipitation.

PMs welcome! I hope some people are having some success.

We got a couple inches in most of the unit last week. But this week looks like mostly rain all the way to the reservation. I haven’t heard of any kind of migration.

Thanks guys. Looks a little doubtful that we will get the kinda snow it takes to get them really moving!

hunted it the opener and all the days up to sunday. Saw elk everyday but never fired a shot. We were hiking 8-12 mile loops each day and would see maybe 1 or 2 groups of tracks in the fresh snow. Most people were driving around. We only say 2 others walking as far back as we were though so keep that in mind. I thought I would see much more tracks considering the amount of ground we were covering.

East or West side of unit?

biggest disappointment in 578 is the recent push from KREPS/SDS logging closure of the entire west side of Laurel road against the conboy all the way to BZ corners bound by river .. like 30+square miles of great area to hunt, now private. Losing land in big chunks in 578.

It’s sad to see the way sds is closing there lands. And they are buying up anything they can.
