Late posting because I been busy with work and getting ready for elk, but, my boy got it done. After spending a few uneventful days in a sweatlodge (pop up blind) We had decided this would be our last night in the stand before we moved to new territory to try our luck. We had been in stand about a half hour when my son put his hand over my mouth and pointed out the window on his side of blind. He leaned over and whispered “We have a buck Dad” I looked and after he pointed out to me I also saw him. He was relaxed and feeding. I explained we had about 2 hours before dark and that he would probably feed right to us. My son said “Ok” and we settled in for the wait. After probably half and hour the buck turned and was feeding away. My son asked if we could try and get closer. I told him that 2 were not as quiet as 1 and if he thought he could get him, I’d hang back and watch. Buck was about 120 yrds out and still very relaxed. Watching my son stalk the deer was a thing of beauty. Every step planned. Knew exactly where he was gonna place foot, moved when head down, and statue still when up. At one point he was going opposite direction of deer and I thought he’d lost him, turned out there was large amount of pinecones on ground and he was circling to avoid them. He closed in and I could no longer see the buck. As I watched he raised bow twice and started to draw only to let down and move a bit. The third time he came to full draw. He released and the buck burst from cover. As he crossed the field and dove into brush I could see fletching and knew shot was true. I came out of the blind and Lyan came running up and hit me like linebacker in a hug. I told him he’d made good shot and that I was sure he was down fairly close. I explained that we should still give him some time. We set down and ate sandwich and drink a soda. After our meal we started in where I’d last seen him. Immediately we found his bloody arrow and 15 yrds later his buck. I’ll admit, I shed a couple tears. Those long days of practice and playing “The Quiet Game” since age 4 had paid off. Amazing experience and seeing his joy was all the better. Oh, I forgot to mention he is 10

It was amazing to watch. My fat butt probably couldn’t cover 100 yrds. He shot from 13 yrds. :archery_smiley:
