So a friend of mine shot a small basket-rack 3x3 (4x4 counting eye guards) buck. It is his first buck. He wanted to mount it but cut the cape short and now doesn't have a cape. My taxidermist told me a small buck or a regular size doe cape would work great on it. If any of you hunters are out in the field hunting whitetail doe tag or second deer tag and shoot a decent doe or small buck, I would be willing to pay you $30 for the cape if it is in decent condition. Just cape the deer and freeze it or cool it down and get ahold of me. I'm in the Tri-Cities. Thanks.

Congrats to your friend! Not trying to sound like a jerk or anything but you might want to consider raising your allotted price a bit...most decent, even smaller whitetail capes are bought for $40-50. Hopefully you could find someone that would down a buck and give you one tho!! Also..I would HIGHLY recommend against the idea a doe cape. Just the ‘look’ and face structure of a doe is entirely different than that of a branch buck; furthermore the hair around the pedicles of antlers are longer and typically darker. You won’t get those characteristics in a doe cape. I think your friend would be much happier with a buck cape, even from a small one, than a doe cape....just saying.
If you can’t locate one I have a few here which I can even ship them to you. Best of luck in your search tho! There’s still some whitetails dying so I hope you can find one!

Thanks to all. I had a member that had an extra cape. So one has been found. Thanks again.

I would think twice about using a taxi that would even consider using a doe cape. :twocents:

The buck this guy shot was so dinky I am afraid the small whitetail buck cape I did get will be to big.
