Post up those beautiful 2021 bass! (please help keep this thread bass only, thanks!)
Smallmouth, largemouth, rock bass, all bass count! Anything goes on size.
Pic only if you prefer, include a story if you like, share a hot location or fun trip ideas and locations! Can't wait to see what you all get
-
You just be sure to share you hot locations bassquatch

Unfortunately for me, 25 years of just dealing with tennis elbow has caught up to me. Trying everything to avoid surgery as it means six to twenty months of rehab and no fishing! :bash:
My travels and trips will be limited this season. Will be counting on this thread to help me through lol. It's frustrating already and it's only January! :yike:
I did manage to get things started this afternoon though! Had to lumberjack storm damage all morning but dipped out for three hours and got this dude and one super tiny one
-
What are some good type of general baits or lures that are good for bass this time of year?

Drop shot works. I’ve throw some jigs with a. Small trailer and they will pick it up. Hard fishing right now

Thank you! I’ve got all those in my box, I’ll have to get out soon

Drop shot, shakey heads, Carolina rigs and jigs deep until the water temps tick back up into the high 40's. Then mix in jerkbaits, lipless crankbaits and umbrella rigs.
Their primary transition from deep to shallow is around mid March. Largemouth will seek out wood and rocks in the five to fifteen foot range for warmth. It only gets better as the water temps climb into the 50's in April through early May. Great time for swim jigs, swimbaits and spinnerbaits. Focus on the full moon phases now until the end of February and don't forget to share your pics please
-
I don’t usually start finding them until May, but I’m looking forward to some inspiration from this thread!
-
May is usually the month I take a break lol.
-
Not 2021 but close. :dunno: How about a river bass that turned into a shore lunch on a float hunt/ fish trip.
-
Nice to keep it 2021 fish but bet that was tasty.

A little pre-Super Bowl chunkster

First smallie of 2021 on Moses Lake
-
Not a bass but for those that like walleye they are biting too
-
Thats some good eating right there. Did you launch at Blue Heron?
-
Yes Blue Heron launch
-
12 fow last week....it has begun  :IBCOOL:
-
Went out yesterday and got a decent one. Water temp was 42.7, this is a westside bass.
-
Fought the stupid weather today for about two hours and came away with this perch eater
-
Went out yesterday managed a mixed bag of fish LMB, SMB, perch and catfish. Interesting part about the catfish was they were suspended 20ft in 40ftf of water, I thought I was on a jumbo school of crappie but it was all catfish.

That's really odd.

Moses Lake on 3/20. Caught 5 total. Here's 3 of the bigger ones.

Nice ones!
What were the water temps on Moses?

Thank you! Water temps reached 47 in the main and 51 in the shallow coves mid afternoon. Green pumpkin chatterbaits with a paddle tail trailer produced all the fish.
-
Nice pics guys😉🥃🇺🇸
-
One of my favorite threads. Nice hauls.
-
This fish was too big to see the whole thing.sorry guys. :chuckle:
-
Good to know on temps! Thanks
My first 'shallow' largie of the season!
My elbow treatments may just get me through a few more years? Pretty optimistic, hope I'm not jumping the gun.
-
??? Catch an release or do you plate some. Reason I ask, I ate a small mouth once. Well I attempted it couldn’t do it.
-
It is a sin to keep bass! :chuckle:
-
It is a sin to keep bass! :chuckle:
Not a sin.
However, they are not managed and restocked like trout, therefore it's up to us to ensure the future of the resource because there won't be a truck coming with thousands more year after year.
Yes, I tried eating a bass when I was 14 and it was disgusting. They're a product of their environment and it tasted like the dirty water I caught it in! I know some like them but I do not. Fortunately they are a thousand times more enjoyable to catch than they are to eat. :twocents:

:yeah:
I have eaten from lakes and rivers. I liked the river bass, the lake bass not so much.
-
I've beer battered and deep fried quite a few smallmouth while camping on the Snake in Hell's Canyon. It wasn't walleye status, but I thought they were pretty tasty. I toss them all back anywhere else though.
-
Ok ok I’ll rephrase that....it’s a sin keep bass that aren’t bronze backed and under 14”.

Let's get things back on track with this Easter egg from Potholes

That's a beauty!

I may be crazy, but a big bass is a bucket list fish for me. I grew up reading Outdoor Life and Field and Stream but lived in trout country. Probably 95% of the articles were about bass but I have only fished them seriously a couple of times.
Great pics.
-
Nice fish👍
I used to read dads outdoor life. This happened to me was my favorite😉🥃🇺🇸
-
Nice largemouth!
-
I grew up trout fishing as well. At age 13, while fishing with bobber and worms off a huge log at Thomas Lake in Everett WA, my best friend accidentally caught a largemouth bass and I haven't been the same since. :chuckle:
@Stein Right now through May is the absolute best and easiest time of the year to hook into a moose! Get out there!
-
Haven’t been out due to recuperating from shoulder surgery but have been making baits for therapy.
-
How much??

@PolarBear. Those are some good looking jigs and plastics. Nice work! Those bass patterned swimbaits are sweet!

Thanks man! I’ve been making baits for 44 years.

Lake Roosevelt, first bass of the year, just shy of 3lbs. Smashed a 4" swimbait over 15' of water. Water temp 48/49.
-
Nice smallie, 10Key. Those swimbaits are fun to fish.
-
5.7lbs caught in a pretty small muddy pond on a BLUEGILL colored swimjig.
-
My son and I got 9 on our first bass trip a week or so ago. Tried to post pictures, but they are to big and I'm just not gonna re size them. My son got the biggest fish, 3.12, and she appeared to be spawned out already.
-
Nine is a good day period.
The quickest, easiest way I've found to resize images from my phone is to email them to myself. Email asks me if I want to resize before sending, so I select 10% and then send them. Open email on my phone and presto, resized images.
This was the easiest way I found to post pics on Bass Boat Central and their system is way more strict than here
-
Lake Sammamish. Caught her under a dock in about 12’ of water. Water temps jumped way up to 60 degrees. Was using a little 1/4 Oz orange colored skirt jig with a red/green craw trailer. 3-10oz. It’s been real slow this year there for obvious reasons but interested to see if this quality keeps up
-
Very nice hauls.
-
A couple gillnet escapees yesterday evening on Lake WA with my two boys. This fish and a FAT bellies SM were shallow in some tall grass. Water jumped to 62.
-
Great advise Bassquatch!! Here are a few from our first trip out...
-
Glad to see the pics C-Money
Man I love seeing all these bass!!
Makes me wanna get out there! :4w:
-
My kid put in a ton of time learning about bass and finally caught his first decent size bass! He’s hooked to say the least
-
Love it!!! :hello:
-
Nice!
-
Got out on the water again and missed some really nice bass but this kid got his PB! I don’t have his mom’s permission to post pick so he gets a smiley face lol:tup:
-
Made a goal of 2021 to catch one on the fly rod. It didn't take long....2nd cast and caught this little guy. Took a popper amongst the lily pads. Love that top water action!

Eloika Eastern Washington

Speaking of Eloika, did anyone get a Cryder report?
-
It's still me...just new direction

I really enjoy looking at the bass pics everyone posts on this thread even though I not a bass fisherman yet.
I caught a bass this evening while trout fishing which was totally unexpected, released it and then realized I had just missed my chance to post a pic in this thread.
I was really bummed out.🤯
As I was slowly fishing my way back to the boat launch I casted out onto deeper water and as the lure hit the water fish one, I quickly realized it was another bass.
Well here’s my monster bass that gets me my fame in this thread, it’s about the same size as the one I caught earlier in the evening.🤣
It’s a young largemouth bass right?🤔
-
Does anyone know of a public access, western WA hole I could try for some largemouth bass?
Here's a good place to start:

Macs B. please check the legality of transplanting bass/fish from one body of water to another.

@Boss .300 winmag
Same thing happened to me when I was 13 and 'just trout fishing' lol
The 38 years from then to now have been a blur! :chuckle:

It’s only my third bass ever, I caught one in high school drowning a worm at the bottom of Battleground lake on opening morning, I was more interested in 🍺 that morning.🤣

I don’t have the cool poses down like bassquatch but bass fishing is fun!

As long as we get to see a bass, who cares :chuckle: :chuckle:

This was April 18th on Newman

NICE! Newman is still on my list too

In my experience Newman is great until the water warms up. It gets a ton of recreational boaters and water sports. Also great after the summer.

Duly noted :chuckle:

3.9 lb. bass caught on a Chasebait Mudbug.

I'll be fishing Little Payette Lake for spawning smallmouth this weekend. Hoping to have something worth sharing.
Gone down to the Columbia several times for smallmouth and really killed them one time. Got to watch @BULLBLASTER lose his favorite lure in a smallmouths face too!
-
My mom's first bass!
-
Aaaaw, cute Kellama! Looks like she might be on a hot rod bass boat too.

What an awesome video castie! That little guy is going to be out fishing you soon! Lol

Bubba is a natural fisherman, I can’t leave him behind (not that I want to)! He asks me everyday if we can go fishing, got myself a great fishing partner!

Caught a few this spring.

Fun fun

Few more

Nothing huge but always fun!

Nice!!! Those are some solid smallmouth!
-
Nice to see the smallmouth getting some recognition. They are a far superior fish in every single way, when compared to the largemouth!

A few from the end of May...
-
This one broke one of my favorite spinnerbaits...
-
A few from today...My son and I found the bass extremely agressive this morning...fishing was lights out with over 30 landed...
-
Man you were catching them on everything!
-
Yes! I have 3 setups with my 3 favorite lurs rigged, seldom toss anything else. If I had a fourth rod, it would have a drop shot whacky rig on it.
-
I got one to show...was goofing off, tossing a jig tipped with worm trying tk catch perch for the kids....little more than a perch hit. Goid times and was released unharmed.
-
More importantly, here's one from lake #120.
-
Noted!
Nice fish!
-
My dad took us out fishing this morning. My son has been out before but this was my daughter's first fishing trip. My daughter caught several small fish and eventually settled into sitting in a blanket occupying my lap. My son managed to hook a 3 pound largemouth that measured 17 inches even about 30 minutes into the morning. He pulled in another largemouth that was 11 inches. We did pretty good for ourselves the whole morning and some of them transformed into fillets when we got home. I finally managed to hook a good sized one myself reeling in so we could go ashore at the end of the morning. 2 pounds for me and 15 1/4 inches. My son's is the top picture and mine is the bottom picture. And yes, my son's floatation device is under his jacket in the first picture.
-
One from july 4th.
-
Finally have something worthy of posting. Probably caught close to a hundred smallmouth in 3 days of fishing.

Good morning on the water

I'm on the board!

Gotta admit I'm kind of bummed ... I like the Bassquatch!

Appreciate it, but it already exists, multiple times on numerous platforms. For business purposes I had to find something more personal. 👍
It'll grow on ya :chuckle:

Love them smallies! Headed for the pend oreille in Ione so I hope to post another good specimen.

Got out Saturday. Overcast skies and thick smoke led me to toss a buzzbait. How fun! They were all over it. Lots of small bass on this outing with a lot of average 2-3lb bass. Got one that should have been well over 4lbs, but was very thin. The fish had a broken/split bottom jaw which looked consistent with a stringer escape or awful mishandling. Hope that fish finds a decent meal. Great morning.
-
Here's one from a literal sea of baitfish!
-
Nice fish PP!
My daughter about lost it when this fish came in the boat :chuckle:

Resurrection time

Appreciate it
Really looking forward to what October and November have in store this year! I fish 1-2 days a week now vs the 4-6 I used to, but the bite is on the incline right now!

Went out checking some duck spots today and decided to bring the pole just in case. Stopped at this spot to just try real quick and definitely glad I did. Biggest smallmouth I’ve ever caught easily.

Giving my elbow about all it can handle, but everything has the feedbag strapped on right now! How in the world can you stop yourself when the bite is this good?! Can't wait for this upcoming weather system!

What’s with those smallies they always look like they’re about to crap out babies all the time :dunno:

Every year, around Halloween, monsters roam the shallows!
-
You are making me want to get my boat back out instead of wandering around in the woods. Really nice fish! You said shallows... how deep are you fishing?
-
Under 15'. The fish in this pic came from 1.5 feet! We are mid 50's on water temps and if the forecast for this weekend and next week hold, it could be unreal!
-
Every year, around Halloween, monsters roam the shallows!
Nice bass. Makes me want to get out there and get some.

Every year, around Halloween, monsters roam the shallows!
So....not sure what's up but this time of year i see more big ol crawdads marching towards the shallows when i swim. Must be related.
-
Well they're biting the hell outta jigs
-
That would make sense. It's strange....a few hundred yards of shoreline at a time....big ol mud bugs just marching along. Keep posting, dig the pics.

You bet! Appreciate the mud bug intel :chuckle:

If it's mud bugs they want
