No chance you grew up near a place called "Trails End" is there? Community Swimming pool?

Yes that is my dad.
The older I get the more respect I have for what he did back then.
Now I am taking my son out, it changes things a lot. But I really enjoy it.
I have enjoyed watching the success of your son on the hunts you have shared over the years on here, nice work

Just received this a few weeks ago from my dad while he is cleaning out my grandmothers house. Deer camp 1970 Olympic Peninsula, I was not quite two, so was not there hahaha

Crazy!
I have always wondered how fast that dude at La push could make that canoe go!

This is a great thread. I don't know if I'm old enough to have "throw back" pictures! I'll see if my parents have a picture of me when I reached into the crab bucket and came out screaming with a crab latched to my finger. Learned a good lesson that day :chuckle:

My daughter just got Idabooners. I don’t know if she will ever hunt with it, but it will be treated like it’s in a shrine. I impressed on her how awesome that jacket was, compared to all the stuff they have nowadays.
It’s amazing how well that pattern blends in, in the shadows.

I have my grandpas old Filson vest. I swear he wore it every single day of his life in the colder months and is still in fantastic shape.. I don't wear it but even if I did im sure it would last another lifetime.
-
Maybe not a throwback but I was definitely way younger. My 1st elk. Hunting Eatonville Hancock when it was still walk in access. 5 road miles from the gate. I was by myself, shot him at 20 yards and watched him tip over. Took me over 20 minutes to find him in the tall ferns. Called my brother for help. On my way out I walked past a logging operation. They were jacked that I shot an elk. They asked how I was going to get it out and I think them I was heading down to meet my brother and we were going to come back and cut it up. They said to drive in and they would move their stuff to let us through. I couldn't have been happier because I had no clue what I was really going to do with this elk. Lol. By the time we drove back up they had the road cleared and even came up after work to see if we needed help.
-
My father's 1961 Bethel Ridge elk. I sure wish I could have experienced the stories he told me from the 50s and 60s.

I still have my dads old Black Bear(its around 70 yo :dunno:), my great grandmas(the one she was wearing in the picture where she lassoed the big 4 point) and my great grandpas, both those are around 80-90 years old, priceless. Every once in awhile I will wear my dads out on a hunt, especially if I go into an area that holds a special memory. I remember him putting my feet in the pockets of that coat and rubbing them to warm them up many times on some dang cold Methow mornings when I was just tagging along as a small boy.
