I do not, however, if you're interested in a YHM Resonator K, I can make that happen.

Actually, you don't have to leave the house until it's time to pickup a suppressor. You can do most of the process from home, including paying, paperwork, your passport style image and fingerprints.

Silencer Co Omega 9K is a nice compact option for your PCC or SMG. Its rated for 9mm and 300 Blackout - Super and Sub.
-
For all the small game hunters and people that want to train the little ones to shoot...how about some suppressed .22lr!
-
This Remington 700 used to be a real donkey kick in the shoulder until Tom at SPR Industries LLC suggested I back off my load a bit after he cut, crowned, and threaded the barrel for me. The Huxwrx Safety Co. 762 suppressor also does a good job at reducing the felt recoil which also helps me get back on target faster.
Practicing shooting a steel target at 100yds off hand is a nice confidence booster for the day I have to take a quick off hand shot at a nice Bull.

Dang, those are some serious dreads! 8) If I live in MT can I buy a suppressor from you in WA? Saw some of the Christmas deals and really wanted to pull the trigger but need to wait until next Christmas. Thanks, Daniel

Thank you! I tried to get them scored for B&C but, for some reason they declined. :dunno:
Yes, actually you can buy a suppressor from me. However, a dealer in Montana would have to facilitate the transfer to you which would include any fees they have.
-
When this rifle is not suppressed it's a real ear piercer and it sounds like thunder ringing all around me. With the Dead Air Nomad Ti in place, it is much more tolerable and the suppressor only weighs 10.3oz with their Xeno mount. You can really hear the difference that the Nomad Ti makes especially as the sound of a steel plate 100yds away stands out when suppressed. These rounds are moving along at 2,890 fps with the silencer.

Dreadi - Have you seen any difference so far in the processing times with Eforms? Just curious since it rolled out in late December and they were touting such a fast turn-around.
I filed paper forms in Jan of 2021 and March of 2021 (bought in January but they were out of stock until March) and am still waiting..... I was really tempted to take advantage of the BOGO they had and trying the Eforms to see if I got those faster than the ones from last year

I haven’t not received any response for the ~20 eform 4 that I submitted in mid January.
Today however, I did receive a another approved paper form.

That BOGO sale was a manufacturer sale. The last time they offered a BOGO was in 2018.

I really dig this little silencer. The Silencer Co Omega 9K is short, doesn't weigh much, and apparently I'm a better shooter with it on at 25 yards.
It's also rated for 300 Blackout Super and Sub. Maybe I'll develop a new caliber and call it 300 Blackout Dom. Seriously, come see me about suppressors and let's get you set up for even more fun with your firearms.

I am putting together the build plan for a new hunting rifle and I have a couple of newbie suppressor questions, with regards to hunting applications
So I am looking for some advice...
Cleaning:
Ability to take apart and clean, how big of a deal is this? I like to be able to thoroughly clean my equipment to keep buildup and corrosion at bay for even a range queen, but for a hunting it seems like it would be a requirement. I hunt in Washington’s coastal rainforest for rosie elk and deer, so moisture, muck, pine needles, etc. find their way into everywhere.
Durability:
Hunting the thick jungle in the wet means slipping, falling, banging stuff into things, etc. How easy to dent/damage are these suppressors? Will a simple fall crossing a rocky river destroy them?
What else should I be thinking about from a hard core hunting perspective?
Thank you

Cleaning is as big of a deal as you want it to be. Fully welded silencers are my preference because I don't want to take apart baffles to clean. If you're really in to getting everything clean as if it came straight the box from the factory, you're not going to be be able to do that with fully welded cans. You'd be better off looking at silencers that have removable baffles/cups/mono core baffle. Every company for every suppressor has instructions for cleaning. Some of them, just soak in CLP and then shoot it. Others can take a more detailed approach with multiple methods.
Silencers are made from the same materials that your firearms are made from. Steel, titanium, aluminum, stelllite, are all used to make them and I'm sure there more substrates that I don't have memorized. They are designed to do their job and not die on impact from a normal drop. They aren't impervious to abuse or misuse and most companies have strong warranties in place. I've exercised a warranty repair before and it only cost me shipping one way. Now if you go tumbling down a mountain with it on the end of your rifle doing cartwheels, who knows?

No doubt, I am not looking for them to be surviving abuse, or at least anything more than rifles typically do. But hunting hard in the rainforest is bordering on abuse (I am sure many would consider it fully abusive!). I am guessing the suppressor walls are not as thick as a rifle barrel, so it’s good to hear if it gets wacked against a tree for example the suppressor won’t dent.
After a day of hunting elk and taking apart my gun it’s amazing the places I find mud, water, pine needles, etc. Even stainless rifles with good maintenance and access struggle with corrosion issues, So if the suppressor is not able to be disassembled how do you get these things out? Shoot them out? That sounds sketchy…
Keep in mind as I ask these questions I am a total suppressor newbie, so I am sure many have figured out how to deal with this stuff.

You're correct. There usually is not as much material between the bore and outer diameter on a silencer as there is a on a rifle barrel. They would get heavy quickly if they did.
I hear you on the cleaning aspect. I get a few firearms a year after hunting seasons that need to be refinished and you're correct about all of that. However, here's some videos about cleaning.
Yes, upon initial thought, it does seem like shooting a suppressor with stuff inside would be sketchy but, many suppressors are designed to be shot wet. That means, you can immerse the device in water and still shoot it while it's mostly full of water, above the surface of the water. Therefore, a few pine needles aren't an issue. With as many members as we have here, if someone were to have an issue/malfunction/catastrophic failure of their suppressor related to your concerns while out hunting, we would have heard about it. You could probably get a box of magnum condoms and pull one over the bore if you're really concerned about it.
Some silencer are wipe compatible. A wipe is normally a piece of neoprene at the front of the suppressor and is a solid piece until it's shot through. Wipes help bring the sound level down a bit more and could serve as a block for falling debris.
I don't mind all the questions. I'm here to help/sell :chuckle:
-
Solvent traps are cheap..... :chuckle:
With the current state of the Form 1 community and the ATF denying hundreds of F1 applications yesterday there won’t be any “solvent trap” suppliers by the end of the week.
-
There are sleeves for your suppressor that prevent heat mirage from multiple shots that would add a lot of fall protection and weather protection.

Thanks for chiming in with that. I use a couple Cole-tac covers to keep the mirage down. They really do make a difference.

A demonstration of the Tactical Solutions X-Ring TSS integrally suppressd barrel for 10/22 frames turned into a friendly competition to see who could hit the steel at 100yds without sights. I lost. It be like that sometimes. It sure is quiet though, and look how compact and handy this little package is.

The 300WM is 24" and the 308 is 18". That area in the baffle is referred to as clipping. It's there to affect the gas flow. Here's a post on ar15.com that talks about it. https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Can-someone-explain-clipping-the-baffles-/55-520357/ (https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Can-someone-explain-clipping-the-baffles-/55-520357/)

Talking with the guy who owns big J's in Orting it sounds like suppressors are coming down a bit in price, he has an older one that is self cleaning and he loves it, I forget the name brand. But he was saying its about 700 bucks, Dreadi, do you have or know models that are self cleaning in that price range? Also, I have a .300 win mag browning Abolt, is my barrel too thin for a suppressor?

I've never heard of a self cleaning suppressor.
I can't tell you if your barrel has enough material to thread without knowing how much material you have to work with.

Another question, does a suppressor help or hurt w recoil? You have to take off a Muzzy brake for a suppressor, are you giving up the softer kick for noise?

Another question, does a suppressor help or hurt w recoil? You have to take off a Muzzy brake for a suppressor, are you giving up the softer kick for noise?
They help to reduce recoil. The most visible reduction of energy that I can show you at this moment is in two videos.
Here you can see the muzzle blast and bit more muzzle rise with the OSS brake installed.
Here you can see the muzzle blast moving the camera when not shooting suppressed.
Depending what suppressor you choose, you may have a choice of muzzle devices that match with the suppressor, or you may be required to have a muzzle device to affix the suppressor to your firearm. There is also the option of directly threading it on for some suppressors. In both of those videos I am shooting with a OSS muzzle brake and threading the suppressor on to it. Most manufactures have the option of a muzzle brake and a flash hider.
In this video I'm using a Dead Air Xeno flash hider.

I have received multiple confirmed reports of e-Forms Form 4 getting approvals in ~77 days
Here's one just from today.
-
FYI for those with paper form 4’s pending. I just got 2 released from prison yesterday. One the check cashed 05/04/21 the other cashed 12/05/21. This shows that we never know when we will get the call on the paper forms. Hopefully the efile will be all the has been promised. 90 days on the one is a personal best for me.

I guess I am just unlucky, still waiting on my paper forms - one check cashed March 2021 and the other in May 2021........

Yeah that's pretty impressive. Did you file as a trust or individual?

I just purchased a 300 PRC and interested in one....appears i need to apply for a trust ?

You don't apply for a trust. You have a trust created, if you want to have your items held in a trust. There is no requirement to create a trust for silencer ownership.
You can apply as a trust or as an individual.

There's still a few more days to get in on this deal. The current average approval for Form 4 submitted via e-Forms is 77 days.

SBR’s are still under 30 days. Form 1 suppressors are pretty much dead after the March 11th mass denials. A few have gone through but the new additional information requests are absurd. Be prepared to submit photos of your tooling (lathe/mill/CNC), a materials list, and a build plan before approval. All the kit companies and sauce co’s disappeared overnight.

The most recent approvals ~90 days have been with trusts. The few that filed as individual were under 80 days.

Dang, that's fast and considering I'm at a year and counting waiting on three more from Silencer Central that is soooo painful to read. :cryriver:

I had a few minutes this morning to compare some 6.8 SPC 90gr Speer handloads with Hornady Black 6.8 SPC 110gr V-Max while shooting suppressed. The Speer bullets are from a bulk pack I bought a couple years ago and now got around to testing them against a factory round. They are just practice rounds and never intended to be used to precision shooting because the were cheap compared to the Barnes TTSX I normally load and shoot for hunting.
I decided to shoot the handloads first and get the barrel warmed up before shooting the Hornady. I wanted to see a clear group of each so I aimed at the center with the handloads and aimed at the left 9 while shooting the Hornady.
Even with the barrel warmed up, the Hornady grouped nicely, much better than my loads.
There’s definitely more through testing that can be done however, this showed me all I really wanted to see for this distance.
Rifle of choice: 6.8 SPC that built a few years ago. Topped off with a Dead Air Nomad Ti.

I’ve been asked about accuracy, changing loads with the addition of a suppressor, and have a few examples to share.
Here’s is a 200yd group from my 6.8 SPC AR as of this week with hand loads that I didn’t not change from previous unsuppressed development. Suppressor used is a Dead Air Nomad Ti with the Xeno mount
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220731/e1629c7aa7781674cde6791a88d990be.jpg)
Here is an example of a 458 SOCOM AR rifle being suppressed with a direct thread Dead Air Primal. 325gr supers, one shot to check the hold over, two subsequent shots.
This rifle uses a Eotech XPS3-2 which has two 1 MOA dots within the 68 MOA ring. The center dot is 10.5 MOA above the lower dot. I used the lower dot as my aiming point. The center dot is zeroed to 100yds. This load had to be worked up because shooting max 458 SOCOM loads suppressed without an adjustable gas block is BIGLY not enjoyable.
I also shoot subs with the rifle using the lower dot at 100yds
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220731/f465ff9826ca4a0c736d2f00c4c013da.jpg)
At one point I decided to try the Silencer Co ASR mount and muzzle break with the Primal. That did not work out well for subs.
Supers were fine however, I went back to the direct thread.
On to 300WM with the same Dead Air Noma Ti and Xeno mount with a Remington 700. I’ve been having problems with my loads becoming hard to extract. Despite having worked up a new load a few months ago.
That load shot well and extracted just fine. Recently when I went to make more, and consistently needed a hammer to get the dbolt to move rearward. I tried a number of things to correct the issue but nothing worked. Not having a lot of free time before the seasons roll in, I decided to get some factory ammo because factory ammo shoots AND extracts with ease. I will be revisiting this soon.
The Dead Air Nomad Ti is also pulling duty on my Savage 10 in .308. It’s an older model and recently began to not fire my loads, just dent the primer. (I’m replacing the firing pin assembly after the parts arrive.) Again, not having a bunch of free time, I got some factory ammo from Sportsman’s and was quite surprised. If the four different loads I shot, the Nosler 165gr Accubond Trophy Grade did quite well.
Above is showing you two groups from the Trophy Grade. One measured and one marked “TG”
The top circle target shows two groups using the Nosler Trophy Grade. I decided to measure the larger of the two instead of the smallest. It gives me a mindset of what to work from and what to work toward.
Please pardon my ignorant measuring. At the time I didn’t know that groups needed to be measured center to center. Until this week, I never got into measuring groups with calipers.
Even though it’s too late to get a suppressor for the upcoming seasons, it’s a good time to get your paperwork in so that you can get your suppressor in hand before spring 2023.

I ordered mine thru Wades Bellevue in January and I still don't have it. Waiting final notification from ATF the stamp is ready.

I am happy to report that I got my Thunderbeast Ultra 7, after 13 exact months since my tax stamp was cashed!
I had already started load development with my 300wsm and found a load I liked enough for now, with time running low before the busy hunting season. I strapped the suppressor on and had no point of impact shift or effect on group size and accuracy. Recoil is further reduced and felt recoil has changed. It’s hard to described to someone who hasn’t shot a suppressed rifle. It’s more of a push vs a swift kick. It’s awesome is all I can say. Plus the suppressed sound main bonus.
This is a group of 4 shots at 622 yards the other day in a decent wind. 3 stacked on the right there within 1.5 inches.
If you haven’t considered a suppressor or are trying to decide, just do it! The e-file process is much quicker than before.

Its probably dead until Republicans take the majority of everything. I'm sure they could still charge $200 in some sort of tax on them, but it would be nice to walk in, buy and walk out with it!

Silencer Co has ran that promotion in 2018 and 2021. It will probably be a while if they ever offer it again.

Nomad Ti shoots pretty good depending on what it’s on. It’s great on my 6.8 SPC and .308. Not great on my 300WM
-
I'm currently working on a spreadsheet to compare the different lengths, weights, attachment methods, and suppression ratings of most of the mainstream suppressors. Maybe I didn't convey to the guys at WCA my intended use very well but they recommended the heaviest and most expensive suppressor I've logged so far :chuckle:
Haven't really narrowed it down much but the TBAC Ultra 7, Banish 30, Dead Air Nomad TI, Harvester EVO, and CGS Hyperion K are still in the running.
The Harvester is ~40% cheaper than most of the others....wonder why

My first thought is the cost of materials. Thunder Beast is all titanium. Nomad Ti is mostly titanium. Harvester Evo is other materials.

I’m loving the Thunderbeast Ultra 7! It’s worth every penny. I’ve shot two deer with it this season and my wife one, this first year hunting with it. I hardly notice it on the end of my 300wsm.

Suppressors in the 1.5 inch diameter category the TBAC Ultra 7 and 9 are the top dogs. Another really awesome can, if you don't mind a little bit larger diameter suppressor, is the Dead Air Nomad LT. The DA Nomad LT is 1.7 diameter, 8.4 inches long and 12.6oz so it's the same diameter as the Nomad Ti but a little longer and a couple ounces heavier but the Nomad LT is worth the extra length and weight over the DA Nomad Ti.
I got a Banish30 a few months ago and it's a decent can running it at 9 inches but I think it sucks in its 7 inch configuration and not in the same league as the TBAC Gen2 Ultra's and definitely not compared to the DA Nomad LT.

Nomad Ti shoots pretty good depending on what it’s on. It’s great on my 6.8 SPC and .308. Not great on my 300WM
According to Silencer shop and Capital Armory there is zero difference in accuracy between any of the top suppressors. This was my question with speaking with them about the 3 I am considering. Tbac Ultra 7 (according to them and alot of guys on other sites like Snipers Hide they are the only marketed suppressor that pushes the MOST ACCURATE SUPPRESSOR side even though it's a non issue) another of my 3 is the CGS Helios qd ti and the Dead Air Nomad Ti. The Nomad-Ti is quieter than a TBac ultra 7, shorter and also lighter.
I know all 3 are excellent suppressors and I'm sure I will be happy with whatever route I go. But it's hard to justify the extra cost in the Helios or the Tbac over the Nomad-Ti considering the specs. Shorter, quieter and cheaper. Again according to several sources the (Most accurate claim is a thing of the past)
-
Regarding outside diameter, does the 1.75" show up in your scope much more significantly than the 1.5" OD cans? Like, to the point of needing taller rings?

I wondered the same. Really was thinking that would be an issue with the Tbac Dominus

I've messed around shooting my 338 can on my 17 WSM and the scope on that is pretty low, can't say that I've noticed that big ole can on it through the scope at all.

I believe you that they all told you that. I also believe they are misleading people by making such statements. I spent a lot of time and money chasing down accuracy. Different cans, different loads, and different mounting options all make a difference. I have to make more videos to show comparisons after the hunting seasons are over with but, I can tell you for sure that they aren't all the same when it comes to how a firearms react to adding yet another accessory.

It’s the first week of January and the current application approvals have been taking 8.5 months. If you been on the fence about hunting suppressed in the fall of 2023, it’s time to get off to one side if you want a chance at getting it for modern seasons.

Form 1's have some awesome advantages, and with subscription memberships with guys like Joey Longo you can build some awesome stuff. That being said they aren't for everyone and when I go another Form 4 route I will be taking my business to Dreadi, he's been an awesome resource for this board.
Dreadi- have you ordered/received anything from Diligent Defense out of PA? Old Form 1 supplier that converted to Form 4 who I'm looking at, thanks!

I had not heard of them until now and it looks like they have some competitive offerings. Looking at the Enticer L-Ti page which includes results from Pew Science, I'd be interested if I was in the buying mood. Adding that they machined the front and back ends to accept other mfgs mounts and accessories, it seems they made a smart business decision. And of course, the warranty looks good.
Warranty: :beatdeadhorse: I know, I know. I'm just talking from my personal experience of putting a few rounds of 45 ACP through the baffles of the first suppressor I took ownership of. Yes, I destroyed all the baffles in the front end and end cap of a Rugged Obsidian 45 because it got loose on the barrel and was no longer concentric. Rugged replaced the parts and shipped it back at no cost to me.

@Dreadi what are you hearing about suppressors and HB 1240? I'm seeing a lot of conflicting opinions about them related to this bill. The way I read it, you could still buy suppressors but not threaded rifle barrels for semi-auto firearms.
I certified on 12/27/22 for my Nomad Ti, so just a tad concerned.
(Everyone please write your reps - https://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=1240&Year=2023&Initiative=false)

Do you think putting a little anti seize on the threads of the brake where it mates with the suppressor would be a good idea? Just kind of protect the threads when you screw it on and off for years? Or does anyone do anything similar?

Nope, I wouldn’t recommend it.
1. I’d just get another break if the threads were compromised
2. I have not found any recommendations from ThunderBeast to use it on the CB mount.
I’d just use it dry as it comes. I’ve seen what happens when a suppressor isn’t locked up tight while shooting. KaBoom and the front fell off.

Are any of them that have the free tax stamp worth purchasing for a lightweight hunting setup?
-
The Rugged Alaskan 360 Ti is insanely light but I haven't read many reviews about it. Budget wise you can get other lightweight options for much cheaper even without a free tax stamp. Looks like a lot of the others are QD mount which hurts your overall weight. The YHM Resonator K is reasonably priced and reasonably light even with the QD mount.

That’s because it’s quite new and most end users don’t have them.
QD mounts vs direct thread are often comparable weights. In some instances, direct thread weighs more.
The Resonator K isn’t something I would recommend for what people are looking for hunting silencer if you’re truly looking to protect your hearing, unless you’re shooting 300 Blackout subs.

I've got a Nomad Ti, and I do like how it does not feel like there's a weight on the front end of the two rifles I've primarily shot with it. Depending on what calibers you're considering suppressing, it may be just enough suppression for you or you may want something that has the ability to offer more suppression such as a Nomad LT.

Dreadi - any thoughts on the Dead Air Mask vs the TBAC 22 Takedown?
-
Dreadi - any thoughts on the Dead Air Mask vs the TBAC 22 Takedown?
Yes, however, it's mostly all thoughts. I haven't shot them yet.
Dead Air Mask - Sells out fast and consistently when they come in stock. I would presume that's a key indicator of popularity and performance.
TBAC 22 Takedown - Published as a half ounce lighter, half inch longer, and has three more baffles than the Mask. It might be quieter.
Both have the same caliber ratings, both have a Cerakote finish. Both are out of stock at the moment.
My question for you, do you need rimfire suppression above .22lr? If not, there's other options as well.
Recently I made a video comparing three silencers on a custom Ruger MK III.

Yesterday, with a new customer I mocked up a new Ultra 9 6.5 on a new CB mount just to show him how it all works. The mistake I made with purpose was not torquing the muzzle device on first, since it was just a mock up with new parts. Out of habit, I hand torqued the silencer on to the muzzle device. When I went to remove it, the muzzle device was still in the silencer. After monkeying around with some ideas to get it out, I decided to look up solutions. The hammer method ultimately worked for me after hand torquing it all back on to a rifle.

Thunder Beast Ultra 9 vs Magnus vs Dead Air Nomad Ti. Hang with me here. This video is twice the length that I normally post, so just for a minute of your time I can demonstrate some the sound differences between the three. These three silencers are good comps for cost, size, weight, and performance. You will get to hear more from them and me soon. I know which one I like more. What's your favorite of the three?

Multiple flavors of Thunder Beast silencers are available at Silencer Shop. So far today I’ve assigned a 22 Takedown and a Magnus for two guys.
If you’re interested in Thunder Beast and want to talk about my experience with them, feel free to give me a shout.
Personally, I am using a Magnus for my 300 Win Mag and my .308, both are bolt guns. I can very comfortably shoot a whole box of .308 with the Magnus without hearing protection. With 300WM, the sound reduction is a huge improvement and while I don’t desire to shoot a whole box of 300WM without ears, I would not hesitate to put shots down range when that legal elk finally makes an appearance.

I’ve got a stainless bull barrel Tikka 22-250 that I wanna get a silencer for. Thoughts?
My initial thought is a Recce 7.
I sold two Recce 5s to a friend for his Ruger Predators in .223 and it’s a pleasant shooting experience. Given the higher pressure and energy of .22-250, I’d start with a 7 instead of a 5. That’s on the lower side of costs.
If you’re looking for high end, I’d start with a Magnus.
If you’re trying to get into the SilencerCo BOGO, the Omega 300 would be the route to go with a .224 front cap

Lots of great cans out there. Any of the TBAC stuff is top notch and their Ultra7 or Ultra9 are two of the best 1.5in diameter cans out there. TBAC Magnus is bad to the bone can but it’s a fair bit bigger, heavier, and more expensive but it’s an awesome suppressor for sure. I’d take a serious look at the Dead Air Nomad LTi it’s also an awesome suppressor but isn’t quite as long or heavy as the Magnus and will save you a few hundred bucks too.
Any of those four will make you very happy.

Gotcha. I see what they have published as LT and they also refer to it as just L. Perhaps the confusion for me is in the consistent change in what the product is referred to as. L, LT, LTi…They all could be different compositions for the same size and design but, it appears they are all the same.

Completely understandable, they don't always make it easy to keep track of the nomenclature. DA makes a Nomad L and a Nomad LTi which is often just called the "LT" and I believe the only difference between the two is the Nomad L is stainless steel and the LTi/LT is titanium. I'm a huge fan of TBAC cans and their products are always top shelf but for it's size and weight that DA Nomad LTi/LT is an outstanding suppressor. As you know, the Magnus is a crazy quiet can but if someone didn't want to go with a Magnus the Nomad LT is one of the best 30 cal and under cans on the market and will save the buyer about an inch in length, 500-500+ bucks and a few ounces in weight as well as not giving up a whole lot with regard to sound suppression. But, if a person wants the quietest 30 cal suppressor on the market the TBAC Magnus is the one to get.

Thoughts on the Scythe for a lightweight hunting setup?

Thoughts on the Scythe for a lightweight hunting setup?
I believe that's what it was designed for. I have a Nomad Ti that's similar in size, weight and material and it's awesome to shoot on my 6.5 creed. I'd expect the Scythe to perform similarly.
-
Thoughts on the Scythe for a lightweight hunting setup?
Give it a year+ for end users to get their experiences posted.
Suppressors with multiple ports on the front will generally suppress less than the same or comparable with a singular hole.
Also, what caliber(s) you’re planning to hunt with should drive your choice. Something rated for a caliber(s) or pressure does not mean it’s good at it. Example, I have a Dead Air Nomad Ti, it doesn’t suppress 300WM or .308 or 6.8 SPC enough to allow me to shoot without hearing protection. However, it’s great with 300 Blackout.

Sounds kinda funny to say but actual noise suppression is lower on the priority list, as long as it is hearing safe under hunting conditions. Weight and recoil impulse control are probably the top two factors, since it just won't get carried if it's too heavy or cumbersome. The Nomad was a top contender as well but on some other forums guys are pretty excited about this scythe for whatever reason. This would be on a 18-20" magnum though so noise suppression will still be a considerable factor

Hunting conditions…out in an open area, tree stand, dense timber, nylon blind, all of the above and more. It doesn’t really matter what condition the hunting scenario is in, a suppressor will either reduce the db SPL enough to your liking or not. I can shoot my .308 multiple time with a Magnus without hearing protection. I can also shoot my 300WM with it enclosed in a blind without ringing my bell. I’m not doing either of those with a Nomad Ti because it doesn’t suppress enough. I also would not use a Nomad because of how much it weighs.
A ten ounce suppressor on the front end is negligible in weight. The Schythe is published to weigh less, and it’s new to the market. A person that’s really into getting what is new on the market or just really into the brand would be excited to see that SilencerCo now has a titanium silencer.
There’s plenty of titanium silencers on the market and the Scythe does not have published sound levels from SilencerCo that are considered hearing safe.

Thanks Dreadi, I always appreciate your input on the forum as you are clearly very knowledgeable on the subject and I am quite the opposite when it comes to suppressors :chuckle: by "hunting conditions" I mostly just meant one or two shots, since 99% of my rifle hunting is hiking and glassing. 10 ounces does seem negligible but on certain hunts it might as well be 5 lbs

You’re welcome. You may be able to tolerate less suppression better than I can. Some people just want the edge taken off enough to make a difference and that’s OK too.
You’re welcome to try my Nomad Ti and Magnus, and hear the differences for yourself.

Waiting on that phone call!
I was told that 2023 applications are being fulfilled before 2022. The ATF said 2023 apps use a new process and that I would likely be approved on my March app before my December app. Sounds like typical government shenanigans to me.

I haven't noticed it on other animals until my OR buck this year, but hearing the "THWACK" of the bullet hitting the animal is incredible. Saw the impact too in part thanks to the reduced recoil.
My hunting crew went from one suppressor to 3/4 guys having them. (4th guy is on a trust with another...so basically 4/4)

What would you recommend for a 6.5 PRC?

Dedicated 6.5 PRC? I'm using a Magnus on my PH2 in 6.5 PRC. However I'd say nothing less than an Ultra 7, preferably in .264.
An Ultra 9 would be next.

Dead Air Nomad Ti, 5/8 direct mount. Has close to 1000 rounds of carbon build up so a little heavier than new.
9.7oz per DA.

9.7oz is not accurate. I don't know where they came up with that number. Previously they published 9.8oz.
Here's an example of a new Nomad Ti with the same mount.

Here's an example of a Nomad Ti that has had rounds through it over the past 2+ years, with and without their direct thread mount plus weights of some of their Xeno pieces.

Their published weight of that direct thread mount is 1.62oz.

Just a little thumb under the scale I guess.
Nice to see the A-10 under published weight by a skosh

For a 1.5in diameter can the TBAC Ultra 7 or 9 are as good as it gets but if you don't mind a can that is a little larger in diameter the Dead Air Nomad Ti XC which is the newest version of the Nomad Ti, for its size, is crazy quiet. I recently got their new Nomad LTi XC which is a little longer then the Ti XC and they are one seriously impressive can. I put a direct thread end on my LTi XC and that dropped a few ounces off of it over using their HUB and Xeno setup and I think it is slightly quieter with the direct thread.
In the big suppressor shootout TBAC did with as many different suppressors as they could get their hands on, which was a lot, the new Nomad Ti XC metered the same as the Ultra 9 did but is over two inches shorter and .25 larger diameter.
