Anyone ever travel to hunt sandhill cranes? If so, what state would you recommend?

I did one in Texas a few years back.  Really fun trip-near Abilene Texas.  My dad knew a guy with a ranch and he said he had a spot that was good for pass shooting cranes.  I thought that was a long shot, but we limited!

I will tell you - when a 30 pound crane hits the ground, do NOT be under it!  It hits like a sack of potatoes!

Also, a wounded crane is a force to be reckoned with!  They his and try to spear you with their beaks.  I understand they kill dogs!

They didn't kill him , but sure put the run on him. Wounded cranes are a force to be reckoned with.
