Are the new fishing rules only available on line? Sportsman Warehouse doesn't have them. Fred Meyers has none either & they said you have to go on line to get them. I normally keep one in the boat & one or two at home for easy reference. I printed out the special rules for rivers that I fish but I'm not about to print the whole pamphlet. However, without having it to thumb through it would be easy to miss something that is pertinent to where you fish.
-
Walmart was just waiting for them. Online or on your phone is the best bet.
-
Delayed this year .. probably see them in a week or two..m
-
What's the deal with the third party website that looks like garbage and is tough to use? You used to be able to just grab the PDF on WDFW, apparently that was too easy.
-
Yes it’s Garbage. :bash:
I drove to Olympia and took part in a survey for the reg book a couple years ago. I told them over and over it takes too many clicks to get to the information you need. So they made it worse.
-
Glad to see I'm not the only one. What on earth did they do? All I wanted was to print 2 pages and it took me forever just to find the file to open.

Hey! It's what they do!
-
My work does the same thing. Whenever they say ‘update’ or ‘improved’ everyone cringes.
-
Based on reading and following 30 years of Navy, DOD and Aerospace documents I can confidently say our fishing regs are absolute garbage.
-
WDFW saving money, good for environment especially since printing cost and paper is expensive this year. So no paper regs this year or likely the next few years a savings of 6 plus figures for them and another inconvenience for us and trying to follow their weekly and daily "special rule changes" should be fun once again LOL. Does any other state change the rules every week like WDFW?
-
I got mine 2 weeks ago near my place at a gas station. Just saw a post on fb about it
-
Got mine at the corner store a few days ago... they are out there.
-
Just be careful of the printed regs as far as salmon rules go. I'm not sure what I can do.

If you are fishing salmon I would suggest checking more than once a week.
-
The wdfw web app sucks.... I don't trust the crap online much. They really need to at least get a pdf published.
-
I havnt found printed regs yet. WDFW needs to learn that not everyone has access to internet or has a smart phone. And I agree the new online sight is crap, you cant find anything anymore. Wish they would put it back like it was 10 years ago. Seems like they are hiding the fact that there are people in WA t
hat hunt and fish.

WDFW said a few weeks ago that there are printing delays due to COVID.
And as far as the internet and smart phone, better get used to it. Some states have already stopped printing regs and gone entirely digital, my guess is WA will soon follow.
-
well they better up their game.. its pure junk
-
Any updates on where to get the fishing regs? Centralia and Chehalis, nothing yet! I have six families I am trying to get them for. None of them use smart phones or computor. I borrow a tablet to get on this sight. And the WDFW sight is junk and too hard to find things on. Plus someone else mentioned keeping one on the boat for reference, how do you do that if you have a phone with no reception?
-
You can update your phone app before you leave. I fish salt 95% of the time and get good coverage just about everywhere. I do usually have a paper copy as a backup as sometimes the app hangs up refreshing and is useless.
I haven't seen paper copies yet.
-
I personally usually have 4 copies of the paper regs. I don't do the phone thing, Have an old flip phone that get's no bars any where and is usually off some where in the pu. 1 copy is in the bathroom as reading material, 1 in the living room for when the wife is watching some stupid show, 1 is always in the boat (not running now) 1 in the pu, and there is usually one on the kitchen table.
The one in the PU is usually highlighted with all the applicable rules to the area I fish Steel-head. You would not believe how many people fish who have no clue.
I also carry printed copies of any updated emergency rule changes. Had to show them a time or two to people that should have been briefed prior to shift.
-
Exactly what I am saying! I only have a flip phone also. I called the dept. Back on the first week of july. They said that the pamphlets were being made local, and that for at least our area they would be mailed by the 12th. Does it take more then 12 days to show up locally from somewhere local? I talked to a local sports seller that said that WDFW wouldnt even let them place an order for them. I guess I wont be giving the dept any money anytime soon. Because I refuse to go fishing, not knowing the rules for this year.

I’m trying to figure out what they problem is… everyone posting on this thread can look up the regs with the same internets they use to browse the forum.
It is also beneficial to look up emergency rule changes especially when fishing salmon, steelhead etc. before going out.

Part of the problem is the re direct to the e-regulations site. Its clunky, jumbled and a PIA. I had to screen shot the pages I wanted regs from because going into every time I wanted to check something took forever. Some guys don't have smart phones, have slow phones, or poor data plans so this reliance on technology to be able to check the rules and regs doesn't work for everyone. Paper regs are just easier. But apparently WDFW cant figure out how to print them.

Problem here is, I have to borrow a tablet and use neighbors wifi everytime I want to look something up. And he is getting grumpy. Hard to memorize the whole pamphlet in a few trips. I do not have internet, or a computor or a smart phone. And when I rarely get that chance to look things up, the WDFW sight is too messed up. There are a lot of us in the same boat, we need paper copies!
-
This is ridiculous, glad I'm not the only one thinks the online site sucks.
-
The first several times I used it I thought it was a hijacked site, it's so full of advertising and misleading links to pull you away to sites you don't want to be on they should be ashamed. In many other states there would be serious heat and questions being asked.

I wonder if the state is actually using that site to create revenue?
-
Yes lol
-
Everything they do is to generate revenue with little or no return to the public.
And the people continue to enable them by throwing more money at them. We fight over the scraps they offer.
-
I don’t see how we can be held accountable if they can’t even provide the rules to us. Could they pull us over for speeding if they just stop posting any of the speed limits but made them available online so we can look up any road we were on to see how fast we should be going. This whole new website is just a piece of crap and As already said is good for nothing but redirecting you to sponsors websites. I can say I am honestly guilty of just saying screw it and going with the rules that I thought/new to be legal because I couldn’t find it mixed in with all of their garbage. So who knows maybe I was breaking the law maybe I wasn’t. Probably would be interesting to ask them to point the violation out to you in the regulations if you were busted…… They say ignorance of the law is no excuse but if they never tell us what the dang law is how is that ignorance, that’s not being informed

I guess thats my point.
We get less and less while they charge more and more.

I know a guy that got a ticket last year for "violating department rule" that wasn't written anywhere on their website, in the regulations, on the app, anywhere on the license or paperwork or in the laws. Literally it wasn't printed anywhere. Warden said it was "common sense" and he should have known or called the department to ask. His choice was to take a day off to fight it and lose money or pay and get on with life.

what was the rule?
-
Sounds like he ran into one of those LEO‘s that love to waste the judges time. Just throw charges at everyone and see what sticks to the wall. I really don’t appreciate when they get that attitude of it’s not my job to investigate I just hand out tickets talk to the judge. It actually is their job to investigate to find out if the ticket is actually just or not. And I believe the argument of common sense went out the window years ago. If the last couple years hasn’t shown everyone that peoples version of common sense can be polar opposites I don’t know what will
-
I wonder how this would work with the new rules that have been put in place. That are effecting the local departments. Since they are commissioned enforcement.
-
Reading this thread I thought I’d go to their site & see if it’s thst bad, since I don’t live there anymore (thankfully). Following their links sent me to eregulations.com or something like that. They had a picture of the regs, but I couldn’t open it, download it, save it, nothin. Once I cleared away all the ads, first. What a bunch of crap, but I’m not surprised.
-
I use the app.
Click on the body of water you’re fishing. Updates and restrictions pop up
-
Found them today in Oregon of all places, Fisherman Marine Supply in Portland. Called Sportsman's Warehouse, they have them also. Not bad WDFW, only a month late. As far as the App goes, it does you no good where there is no cell coverage, i.e. the Lewis River, Merwin, Yale and probably many more locations. And the next person who says "well you can get it online" as if that's an excuse for WDFW's failure, I just want to slap them. I want the pamphlet!
Anyway, thanks to everyone who contributed to this post.

I was at Vancouver Sportsman's WH on Thursday. They had no idea when they would get them. I guess I need to make another trip.
-
They are out around Spokane. Sportsmans Whse, Ace hardware.
-
had both the new fishing regs and hunting regs in my hands on Wednesday and forgot to bring them home.
-
They finally showed up in Chehalis. Small quantity
-
3 rivers had some last week
-
Got a couple of copies today at sportsman's in Kenn. Had to haggle a bit to get two as they were behind the desk.
Don't think i like the new sportsman's.
