I am using 2"x2" 10 gauge steel wire mesh for the body of my traps and 2"x2" 6 gauge steel wire mesh for the doors. I have purchased some 1"x1" 10 gauge steel wire mesh for some specialty stuff but it is awfully heavy to build an entire trap out of. The stuff comes in 5'x12' sheets. They have some different sheet sizes but I always buy the 5'x12' so am not sure of the others sizes availability. I get them from the Western Group which has a factory in Dupont so I get it direct from the factory. They have other places on the west coast but I do not think they have anything back east.
My first purchase of this size wire though was from Grating Pacific in the Seattle area and it came from the east coast so the stuff is available elsewhere.
I bought some once hot dip galvanized but the cost is prohibitive. Right now I am dipping the traps, rustoleum. I would like to go to powder coat but the cost s pretty high so haven't went there yet.
This stuff is rigid enough I can build frameless traps which makes the collapsible traps possible.
