Title: Methow deer area 2012 access
Post by: Elkrunner on September 28, 2021, 10:39:56 AM
My private land access fell through for my 2nd deer tags in the methow.  Does anyone know any land owner that lets people take a doe by chance?

Might be tough as a land owner gave an archery hunter permission to take a mature doe and according to what was posted on the bulletin board the hunter took a doe accompanied by twin fawns ( now supposedly "orphaned") so might be tough to find a cooperative land owner or at least from one that has not lived here very long

That’s unfortunate.

That’s unfortunate.

It is but also unfortunate is it happens more than you think. Not saying you are one of those but it happens more and more. This herd has already been put through the ringer by everything from Mother Nature to exploding predator numbers to piss poor management and one of the big things that can help is strong fawn crops. I would knock on some doors, usually the land owner will know if he's got does on his property without fawns. A good way to frame the question might be to ask if they have any baron does on the property that may be getting into things or are being a nuisance  :dunno: Just a suggestion

I'm not sure if the old Twisp Carlton road is in your unit but when I was taking kids over to fill their permits when my son was young we found several hunter friendly folks that allowed access permission.

Thanks for the tips.  I might have a new lead.
