Title: Reardon Deer question
Post by: steeleywhopper on October 22, 2021, 09:41:55 AM
I am headed over to Reardon this weekend to visit some family and in the process I will be doing a morning or evening deer hunt one day.
My family has a crap ton of wheat land to hunt and I have never in my life set foot on any of it. This is all private and no one has or is hunting it so what I am hoping is that someone that lives or hunts over there could shoot me a PM and maybe I could pick their brain for some local knowledge.
My family does not hunt so they really don't pay attention to the deer at all. If nothing else it's a great way to scout with a tag in the pocket and a rifle over the shoulder :chuckle:

Would like to find out if the Blue Tongue hit over there as well as I have the Palouse late rifle permit.

Yes, Reardan area was significantly hit with blue tongue three years ago and have not recovered. This summer pretty much will devastate any recovery that may have started. You may see some mule deer who are not affected like whitetails, but those are not an option for your Palouse late tag.
The game department should eliminate the Palouse tag. Any whitetails left need to be left to help herds recover.
I haven’t seen a whitetail near my farm in years!

I just mailed my Palouse permit back to WDFW today.

Sorry for the bad news!
The game department has no desire to manage our game. Just make more revenue to spend it elsewhere. The same could be said about our moose populations. They know they are also in crisis with  populations and have done nothing to mitigate it or reduce tags.
Hope you still have a good visit over here!
