We have two disabled veterans that are arriving 8/27 to 9/4 for bull elk in the wenaha unit in Oregon. One is non mobile and one is semi mobile. We did this hunt last year and did ok but was later in the year. Looking for some advice regarding elk densities. They would be happy with any bull over 300” it’s more about getting them a bull than getting 370” bull. Scouted this week around the jubilee lake area and did not see an elk or any sign for that matter

Check in with the hunting forum over on Ifish. I'm sure there are some great knowledgeable guys that would love to help you out!

Reach out to my buddy Paul Ellis and ask him. Likely tons of locals willing to help with a tag like that. Paul is on FB Instagram and has web site https://ellishuntingranch.com/
Tell him Mike Davison sent you.

Get ahold of High Timber Dreams out of Elgin, Oregon. 541-612-2164 Ryan Gascon is one of the guys involved.
I know they take vets out elk hunting and turkey hunting, but I don't know what unit they hunt or what the circumstances are. Worth a call though.

I know some folks who have been hitting the Wenaha for thirty plus years. My wife has a cabin on the Washington side at Twin Buttes. I know it's only a thirty minute or less walk to Oregon side from their cabin. I will ask some questions for ya as well. We need to help these two get an elk!

Hope your getting some good intel!

Sent you a PM. I'm from Elgin on the Oregon side.

All I've gotten so far for you is rants about wolves and cougars... Hopefully you can find more help from the Oregon side.

Actually this tag is good for any where in the entire state! Like a governors tag not just limited to Wenaha we just thought that might be the best unit to try for a good bull. But if there is any other suggestions we are open to
