One of my friends and former client/chef, kills everything with his long bow - elk, deer, upland game, you name it. He got this monster yesterday while out scouting for elk near his home in Gallatin, MT. He's going to use the skin for his bow and is smoking the meat.

Way cool

I personally believe a GAU-8 to be a perfect tool for those creatures.

You know, he could have just walked up and stuck the arrow in it holding the arrow in his hand? Rattlesnakes can only strike 1/3 their length unless they are pinned down.
We ran into them all the time in E Wa.

Still an impressive animal.

That's a nice big Nope Rope.
-
That is quite the animal to add to the list!

Nice danger noodle!
I killed many when i lived in NM. They are delicious. Taste kinda like cod.
-
I've seen more than a few.
Never saw one that big.

That's a big boy!! Not to jack your thread John, but just ran into one of these last weekend. Taste just like chicken.

I just couldn't do that......
I'm a eat eater, but I just couldn't eat snake.

I agree it tastes like chicken. Had it plain and marinated in bbq sauce. Both were good.

I killed and ate one down range at Ft. Carson in the early 80s. No one in the company ever messed with me after that. They thought I was crazy for eating snake. They were eating C-Rats. Who was crazy? It was delicious.

Nothing better than a good BBQd rattler! Hunted and ate them all the time in the Mojave desert. Mojave greens have a bit sweater meat, in my opnion, than a normal rattler. But all are very good!

That is a huge snake! I am not really a fan of poisonous snakes, We have Copperheads, Cotton Mouths, and Pygmy Rattlers out here. I have to admit Copperheads and Pygmy's are really cool looking but darn near impossible to see them unless they move because their camouflage is so good.
A 7 year old boy got nailed by a Pygmy Rattler last week playing in a field down the street about a mile. He has had two rounds of hospital stays, and they think he may keep his foot. :yike:
