Hi all! I've been lurking for a while as my husband and I have been learning and putting time and effort in pheasant and quail hunting. We live in central Washington, have had a ton of fun making lots of mistakes (my favorite way to learn) and occasionally getting lucky on some quail shots. We've big game hunted successfully for years, just wanted to add another season to get out and put boots on the ground. Anyhow... question is, I'd like to buy a guided trip either duck or goose hunting for my husband for Christmas. Would greatly appreciate any recommendations in eastern and Central Washington. Thank you!

Welcome :) to the forum. Don't forget the site has a woman only tab.

Great idea what a cool gift! I can’t help you with any guides but there is great bird hunting (waterfowl and upland) around potholes reservoir near Moses lake. Maybe someone can chime in with some guides in the area. Your husband is a lucky man

Hello. I must admit, I'm a bit jealous. I don't think I'm gonna find a guided waterfowl hunt under my tree this year. What a great gift idea. I'm not sure when you want this trip to take place. Most guide outfits usually book up the entire season by now. You might find a cancellation, but those can be hard to fit into your schedule. You might want to consider booking for next season. Anyone can advertise hunts on the internet and e-mail back and forth. If it were me, I would consider attending one of the sportsmen shows either in Puyallup or Portland. Lots of guide outfits to choose from and you can get a better feel for who you're dealing with when you shake hands and talk face to face. Make a list of questions such as best time of the year for successful hunts, deposit requirements and total package prices with no added fees. Then compare apples to oranges of what each one has to offer, such as meals, lodging or bird cleaning. There are a few guide ads in the fish and wildlife printed waterfowl regulations. good luck with the process. I hope it's a great experience. Joe

Great gift idea. I’d say either Echterncamp in Moses Lake or Shelby Ross on the potholes. Either would be fun and both are reputable. Best of luck!

I hunted with these guys about 10 years back. Paul is a fantastic guy and puts on a spectacular hunt.
My family and I hunted with him as far back as the 80's before he had his own guide service. If birds are in the area he will put you on them.

Burbank went private a couple years ago. They no longer offer guided hunts. At least according to their site.
I've done 3 hunts Echtnercamp over the years. They've always been very hospitable and more than willing to answer questions. I've also never booked before the season. If it's just 1 or 2 of you going they usually are able to find a spot for you.
I actually put a guided duck/goose hunt on my Christmas list. If I happen to be gifted one that's who ill be calling.

Eagle Lakes Ranch near Othello is supposed to put on nice hunts. Hey have a nice lodge to stay in. I’ve never hunted there. I’ll give another shout to Echternkamps out of Moses Lake. I’ve hunted with them and it was a very good experience. If I still lived in Washington, I’d go back.

Eagle Lakes Ranch Lodge (509)488-4484
Pacific Wings Waterfowl Adventures (509)967-2303
I have hunted with both and think you can have a good hunt with either. Both have ads in the Game Bird and Small Game Regs pamphlet and hunt in the Othello area. These 2 are the most expensive at $350 per person per day but have more quality places to hunt than the others(I think). Eagle Lakes Lodge is great but you can save money by staying in a motel and meeting up in the morning.
The other recommendations are solid too.
