In Washington you can only take "naturally shed antlers". If they are attatched to a skull it has to be tagged.

Nice finds

I hate that law, but I do see its purpose to try and control poaching. Alot of scum would shoot the bucks, gps the location and come back the next year for the head and call it a "deadhead"

That's what I refer to as "The Utah Way". 8)

You guys crack me up. Of course I carry my tape. Just in case.  :chuckle:

Rough score in the field.

R                        L
20                      20
14                      13.5
10                      9
11.5                    11
6.5                      4
Mass-20              Mass- 18.5
Extras-8              Extras-5
Total-90              Total- 81
Inside- 19

Gross- 190-ish

That is with the G2's chewed off a ways down. They were likely 17 and 18 rather that what I measured 13.5 and 14. Big boy was getting right up there in the upper 190's with all those extra brows and mass. Pretty decent frame too.

Now the coyotes get to eat it.  :bash:

I know that is the law and it really sucks for us honest guys who wouldn't poach just for a dead head.  But here's my question to WDFW......What self respecting scum who WOULD poach it, mark the GPS coordinates, and come back for it next year is going to follow the law about not picking up dead heads?

found a few today. Had to leave the deadhead. Sweet tripple brows.

I know how you feel. I was shed hunting today on some public land, and spotted a large 4 point shed across the fence on private land. I just stared at it with binos for about 5 minutes. I finally had to just walk away.

The real question is if you had found that a couple years ago when it was fresh would you be able to leave it lay.  I wouldn't. ;)

This has been my argument about this law.  A guy will go through all that and then break the law again and pickup a dead head.  Doesn't make any sense.  I think that it has more to do with the argument of these dead heads will be eaten by small animals.

Hey,

Weathergirl has a WA State salvage permit, go pick it up and donate it to Decatur Island School where she teaches.

so the truth comes out, the wdfw wants us to buy a salvage permit incase we come across a dead head, well i will be honest with all of you if i found that i would take it home with me, sorry if that offends any of you, thats just my  :twocents:

You can only get a salvage permit for educational purposes, she's a teacher.  BTW, I'd keep it too....
