Hello fellow members!
I wanted to offer an idea that could bring members together and provide some great opportunities for members to meet each other. After putting some thought into it, the idea that came to mind is this new thread.
I HAVE AN OPEN FISHING SEAT:
If you are going to have an open seat on your boat or would like someone to ride with you for a fishing trip you could ask other members if they would like to go fishing with you. Post the details of your trip in this thread.
Here is a list of useful details. Date of the trip/fish you are after/area that you will fishing -launching /gear needed “note if you have extra gear for people to use if they don’t”. This can also apply for trips to go bank fishing, etc. Just post the info and note how you plan to fish.
FYI - This thread is not for guides or anyone trying to make money by taking another person fishing. But there is nothing wrong with asking someone to share the costs of gas/bait/etc. To go fishing. You will need to talk about this with the person you are going fishing with. I would suggest you use your own discretion regarding who you choose to meet, but this could be a great way to meet new members and have some fun fishing! I also suggest that if anyone approaches you asking you to pay for a fishing trip, please report it. Good luck if you go fishing.
-
great idea!! I go fishing during the middle of the week allot and am by myself from time to time . It would be fun to meet some new people and shot the breeze :) :)
-
I have seen this on other forums, seem to work well. I often have an open seat or two on my boat. I will post details if Im looking for someone to go with.
-
Sounds good to me as i dont know anybody around the spokane area with the exception of the people i have chatted with in this forum. I usually have the back deck open. I will post next time i go out.
-
I am ALWAYS out fishing/crabbing/shrimping so if anyone wants to go, just let me know
I keep my boat in La Conner and fish around Whidbey and San Juans
-
Well it might be last min but i am going out to Lenice for some fly fishing, there is an open seat in my truck if anybody wants to go!
I have an extra rod if you need one. We are using float tubes, you will need to bring your own if you have one, or you can fish from the sand bar if you dont have one. (tubes/pontoons are much nicer than bank fishing)
You will need your own bugs. I am leaving this wed at noon from the Evening Hatch Fly Shop here in Ellensburg. This is no guided trip, its a fun fish.
If the winds are to ridiculous at Crab Creek we will hit the local lakes.
PM me if you want to go. I will be on the computer from 7:00am till 11:30am!

I live in Sequim about 30 min from Whidbey Island, I'm only 15 so you might consider me to young but it would be sweet if someday I could get out fishing with you I've always wanted to fish the sound so far I've only got Steelhead, kokanee and ALOT of trout fishing in.
-
no boat, but I'm always looking for someone to join me on hike in fishing trips. (almost every weekend once the snow disappears and this school thing gets done for the year)
-
 Way to use this guys! Keep it up.
-
Good idea Carp.
-
great idea Carp- I had the opprotunity last year to get out with Fishcrazy. I met him and the mighty Rasbo in Kalama for a day of sturgeon fishing. We had a great time and got to know a little about one another.
-
Kris is a blast to fish with and very knowledgeable about what he does,he does have a concern about axe wielding internet people :hello:
-
Don't have a boat yet, but as soon as this kitchen remodel is done that is the next thing on the list. A man can't go his whole life without once owning a real boat. When I get one I will need some compaany.
-
Yeah like that ...we all need to become friends and start sticking together like glue so we can defend our constitional rights !! :yeah:

U area actually pretty far from where I head out of but if you can get there, I can take you. No problem on being young. I used to be a young one myself 8)

By the way, any ideas on how much it weighs? Not a scale big enough to weigh in onboard so :bash:
-
nice job. looks about 40 - 50 lbs. i lost mine about half way up. thats why its fishing not catching . but the catching is a lot funner. :chuckle:
-
I would guess about 40. I had a scale that would have worked, didn't know you needed it.
My boy and I limited today on shrimp and got a 10 pound ling.
-
I don't have a boat, but love to slay the bass. Been doing very well on the smallmouth this year! I do have a couple of float tubes that work great in back ponds.. Haha. Send me a pm if any of you are interested.

Anybody have an open seat for the Port Angeles Halibut Derby? I have all my own stuff but no boat. :bash:
-
I am going to be heading down to the wind river or Drano this coming weekend. If the wind isnt blowing bad I will be fishing the wind river. Had way better luck there than Drano. I am looking for someone close to Ellensburg to head down there with. I have one open seat. I will be fishing out of my 15 ft. smoker craft Alaskan. Kinda looking for someone to pitch in on gas. I have been going down there myself the last 3 weekends and it gets spendy going by myself. I have been doing well on the catching. :IBCOOL: I am wanting to head down there early sat morning and stay sat night in my camper. There is an extra bed also. PM me if interested.
-
Great offer huntergreg. I might head down and meet my old man at drano this weekend. If I'm down there I will keep an eye out for you.
-
This coming Wed. the 25th of May, I will be going shrimping and ling fishing while the pots soak. I have a spot available. I can pick someone up in Anacortes 7 to 8 a.m.
-
Looking for someone to show me the ropes halibut & tuna fishing out of the Columbia river. I've done some research of where to go and how too but its always good to have an experienced person along. I usually have one or two seats open on my Grady White 300. I'm not looking for your hot spot just looking for help. I'll cover gas and expenses on first trip. Also looking to line up a few fishing Buddy's for future trips since I usually only have one other on board. if you would like to sturgeon fish the lower Columbia and trade spots I know that area well. Boat is in Astoria for the next 2 to 6 months before I head to Newport
-
I am heading to Soos creek for some steelhead fishing. It will be my fist time there and looking for someone who has knows the area.
-
i don't know how i missed this thread. i love to fish and try to go every weekend but i don't know much about fishing up here or anybody and i would like to learn Ive tried the sound with no luck but i go to mossy rock damn quit a bit with my kids but thats the only place i know about
-
Soos creek... I went and there are lots of garbage down there. I did not get a bite at all. There was one other person down ther fishing. I went up stream for the rest of the day with no hits.
-
anyone looking to go fishing in westport?
I was thinking of mooring my boat there for a month. Fish on weekends (when it opens both days)
Would be great to find some one with an rv to park there for a month. So we had some place to sleep at night.
Or we could carpool down on weekends

9 times out of 10 i have an open seat on my boat. chip in for fuel (for a full day fishing) or cover the bill (half day) and we can go anywhere in the islands/whidbey. the boat is a 20' glasply, and i can hold 3 if you want to be cozy.
once the fish are here, im on the boat anywhere from 2 to 6 times a week, sometimes for just a few hours, sometimes all day.
i meantioned fuel, but dont worry, it only has a 4banger so 40$ in fuel usually covers a whole afternoon
-
What a great offer! I'd drive out to anacortes for that. Is that your 20?
-
Test. One two.... Check. One two... check. Testing. One two...
Is this thing on? :dunno:
-
I am planning on fishing the white salmon tomorrow morning threw afternoon. Anyone is welcome to join me. I got the spare gear if you don't have any. I also have a bunch of freash coonies cured up. If you want to use mine just chip in some money on the bait. Pm me if you want to meet up and chase some metal heads
-
What an offer carpsniperg2! Man... if I hadn't just taken a day off last week to go crabbing and fishing, I'd play hookie again to join ya. Dang! I totally pitch in for gas, bait, etc. Mebbe next time.
Stoked to see the generosity and camaraderie that has come out of this thread and the forum. Thanks for posting.
Good luck tomorrow!
-
I am in ferndale, and I am a avid fisherman. I don't have the means of getting out to fish for salmon in the salt water, I have my own gear and can throw down on fuel if need be. If anyone wants to go out Sunday for some kings let me know. Thanks
-

Thank you. No need for gas money unless you ride down from gdale with me. I am just being a bankie right now. It's been slow so far a few fish but not many yet.
-
I have space for one adult, or maybe an adult and a smalller kid (12 or under?) to go pink salmon fishing on Sunday the 7th.
We will leave Skyline Marina in Anacortes at 7:00 a.m. I have gear to use unless you have a special rod you want to bring. We will be trolling off San Juan Island.
Contact me for more info or to lock it in. First PM will get in as I will be out of cell range shortly.

Ah. Not really an "open seat" but. I still woulda been interested - great excuse to go fishing, learn a new area, meet new people etc. Plus, I gotta lot to learn about bank fishing. It I like getting schooled by people with experience as opposed to figuring it all out on my own. There's enough opportunity in life to do that already! :chuckle:
How did it go today anyweys?

Seems contagious, took FC and Heartsblood out yesterday for pinks off San Juan, beautiful day on the water, an orca swam under our boat, put some crab in the cooler, but only landed one pink. At least we didn't see other boats yarding them in around us....
Hopefully It'll pick up.
-
I just posted an invitation in the forum for people to fish with me. I didn't notice this thread till I was done. So if you missed it, I fish out of Everett during the week. Go check the thread for details. Good fishing to all. Mark

I am a firefighter so I have alot of random days off. I am still building my fishing skills but I think I have all the gear I need. I am willing to drive to meet people and pay for gas for the boat. I live in Buckley but am willing to drive like I said. Let me know if you want someone to help with your gas and I would love to get out

Even ate the last of my catch that night

I was just thinking today I need to start an open seat thread, didn't know there already was one. I'll have open seats from time to time, Westport, Lapush and occasionally an open seat for Neah Bay. I fish everything from salmon, halibut, bottomfish and tuna. Send me a PM of you're interested and I'll keep you in mind when seats open up!

Keep me in mind when you have room on a tuna adventure, I have never done it but anxious to give it a try, I try fish LaPush as much as I can but my boat is too small to go after the tuna which is one of my favorite things to eat....fresh canned tuna or just steaks even !! :EAT:
I wouldn't mind going for halibut or ling cod either, just tell me when, where, and how much and I'll be there !!! :fishin:

I would love to get out and am more than happy to pay for gas. I am a firefighter so I work a 24 hr shift but have a lot of days off. Let me know when there is an opportunity. Thanks

 Great Idea, I just purchased a 16.5 Crestliner fishing boat and can't wait to pick it up after they custom make my canopy for them rainy days. I'm 100 % disable due to a back Injury so my time is hitting the local lakes and doing what I enjoy most and that's either coyote hunting or fishing for bass or pike or walleye. If you don't have a boat and wouldn't mind chipping in for fuel to keep the cost down then shoot me a pm. :fishin:

Was just up in Neah Bay with the family this weekend. Place we stayed was a fishing camp/ resort (ok parking lot with a boat launch and some shacks called cabins). Made me crazy to see all that fishing going on and not have a pole with me. Wouldn't trade time with the kids for a day fishing though!
Can't believe no one has jumped on your offer PJ! If it weren't a ways for me to drive from Gig Harbor I would likely be all over it.

Looking to go for lings this sunday, anyone else headed out. Im near the Nisqually Inlett.

Fishing season is just around the corner, and wanted to extend an invitation for occasional open seats. I strictly fish open ocean, in a 25ft model (30ft overall) offshore vessel we named *Marketprice. I try to fill all 4 seats for every trip and occasionally have someone cancel, or just can't fill a seat. We fish halibut, ling, bottomfish during the openers in May and June, then a few salmon trips to Neah bay and several in westport when we will have the boat moored there throughout the summer, then when tuna rolls around, as early as the beginning of August, we stick to that until September when its time for me to pick up the bow and hang up the rods. Just try to split the fuel up evenly so its fair for everyone.
PM me if you're interested so we can talk about it. I had an interesting experience taking a guy from here last year so I was a little weary the rest of the year, maybe we'll give it another shot.

Greg @ gregs custom rods said he talked to three of the local regulars and they each had 3 fish by noon. kinda wishing i had gotten the double pole endorsement but the new lamiglas noodle rod (kokanee series) and reel, and some dodgers, etc set me back about $165 today. Gotta see what i think and might start really learning the lake for them. Lived here my whole life and been busy chasing salmon and steelhead.
-
Looking to get out and do some ling cod fishing if anyone has an open seat, more than willing to pay my fair share of fuel for the trip. will supply my own bait and gear, don't drink don't smoke, pretty laid back ( makes me sound a bit boring). Been out with a couple members: duck hunting with irem and fishing with pjb3
weekends or weekdays, anyone?
-
Willing to trade a seat or two on my 19' Trophy walkaround for some knowledge/education.
Well, we just bought a boat. And then my wife got pregnant. So, now we're in the heart of lingcod season and she's got morning sickness. But, I get the green light to go out. My challenge is I have no idea what I'm doing :)
So, I've got a boat, the coolers and a new bottom rod, but would love somebody to show me some of the spots like slag pile, off of Whidbey etc...
ericberto @ gmail is my main contact

This is a positive thread and I plan to keep it that way. This is not a place to discuss paying for a trip or helping with gas money.

Head to the boat launch and stick up your thumb. I see people along the highway all the time doing that and they aren't there very long

Anyone have an open seat in Westport on the 21st or 22nd? I am an experienced fisherman and boater. I will pull my load with bait, gas, etc.
Thanks
-
I have a friend who is also looking for a boat out of Westport for salmon. He has had his own boat in the past and knows what it costs to run one, he is welcome on mine anytime but I can't get out there anytime soon. :-(
-
Noone since August with an open seat? :(
I'm going to try to hit the last of the San Juan blackmouth season Saturday and Sunday. If you can get out to Lopez Island, I can pick you up at Hunter Bay boat launch. I'm not sure what time I'll be out but it is not too far to the dock.
No guarantees of course. I have gear unless you have a favorite rod/lures/bait you want to use.

I moved up to the Olympic peninsula from Oregon last year, got my license and did OK fishing from the shore, re-learning and getting more experience as it had been some years since I had done much fishing.
Now I've renewed my license but can't quite afford a boat that will get me on anything but a pretty calm lake. A friend gifted me an 8' boat so I can at least row around lake Leland and such.
If anybody has an empty seat to get out on some bigger water, I would be hugely grateful for an opportunity any day of the week and happy to subsidize food, fuel, etc. costs that day.
I'll definitely make sure to pay it forward (hopefully this fall) when I get a boat that can handle it and take some other folks out.
Thanks in advance!

I have an open seat for the second Neah Bay opener.
Here's the deal, the rest of my crew can't get out until Friday afternoon, so I'm running solo on Thursday and Friday. I've also got extra room in the condo we've rented directly across the street from the marina.
So, fishing Thursday and Friday and a room Thursday night. PM for additional details etc...

Hey guys,
I've lived on the west side for 8 years now and still haven't managed to make it out for any halibut or ling fishing, except for one charter which was a bust. If anyone has an open seat I have gas money and can bring lunch for the boat. I live in Mount Vernon but can travel if necessary.
Thanks!

Pm sent bear hunter. Anybody else want to go shrimping and halibut fishing tomorrow? $orry for the short notice. PM me your phone #. I'm also going Friday if anybody wants to go.

Just got this notice - closed tomorrow in Neah Bay, not sure where you are going.

Halibut fishing off Neah Bay, La Push
to close May 21, will re-open May 23
OLYMPIA - Halibut fishing will be closed tomorrow (May 21) off the state's north coast but will re-open for a final day of fishing on May 23, Washington fishery managers announced today.
Anglers are expected to reach the 108,030-pound halibut quota in marine areas 3 (La Push) and 4 (Neah Bay) after one more day of fishing, said Heather Reed, coastal policy coordinator for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).
Those marine areas had been scheduled to be open for halibut fishing Thursday, when the weather is forecast to be marginal. Department staff consulted with sport fishing representatives and agreed to hold the final day of halibut fishing on Saturday, when weather is expected to improve, Reed said.
"We apologize for the short notice," Reed said. "We typically like to give more warning of a closure. But we want to give anglers a good chance to catch a halibut and we believe the better opportunity to do so will be on Saturday."
In all marine areas open to halibut fishing, there is a one-fish daily catch limit and no minimum size restriction. Anglers may possess a maximum of two fish in any form and must record their catch on a WDFW catch record card.

If someone was already at Neah Bay and couldn't fish MA 4, it's not a real long boat ride to MA 5. Could head there, fish the mouth of the Hoko river or something.

I'm launching out of Cornet Bay on Whidby and fishing Hein Bank. PM me your phone # sled and we can go tomorrow morning.

sorry I didn't see the post. I ended up not going. Stuff came up. I might go next week will see. PM ME I would have to leave around 3 or 4 am to make it by sunrise.
-
Looking for someone to fish Riffe Lake with. I had plans to fish evening Monday, all day Tuesday and Wednesday. but the guy never answered his phone or called back. I charge my oil, packed the truck and picked up gear. :bash: So I was thinking of leaving tomorrow around 7am and fish the evening and either camp or get a motel for the night. Then fish Wednesday to. Does anyone want to go? PM me ASAP tonight before 10pm. I will check it around 10pm. I will also look at my email in the morning before I leave. Well I must finish packing.

New to the area stationed on lewis. I'm limited to weekend and holiday fishing but would love to hangout and learn the tricks up here. I'll always pay my share of fuel help any way I can.

Gonna be fishing steelhead tomorrow, at mcnary dam. Little upset it's closing for the year after tomorrow, it's my favorite place to fish. Last minute trip and most of my fishing buddies are deer hunting this weekend.
Got 2 spots in the boat, 3 if 1 is a kid or kid'ish, or if the party is used to being on boats.
Have everything needed for 2-3 gear wise. Room in the truck for everyone.
Leaving for cities around 5 am. Gonna anchor and fish bobbers/shrimp. If your interested shoot me a pm.
-
Awesome offer Syoungs.

Looking for an open seat on a boat for the spot prawn fishery. I am a transplant to the PNW and would be very appreciative to find a seat on a boat. Am very interested in learning local practices.

For anybody near Seattle, I'll be heading out to throw some flies for SRCs at a couple of the well known parks. If you're interested in meeting up shoot me a PM, fishing is supposed to be good.
-
Anybody going after those Atlantic salmon? I would gladly pay to get a seat and throw some fillets in the freezer! TIA
-
Sounds like those fish have yellow mouth disease
-
The meat looks alright but the fish themselves are in tough shape. What I saw anyways
-
Dang... lol kept telling myself "farmed salmon, don't do it..." but those numbers are so high it's hard to look away!
-

Not sure what you saw, but of the 56 laying on the beach Friday, only one had a deformed mouth (common injury from my understanding in fish raised in nets) and a few had slightly misshapen fins or tail. One seemed to be kind of an albino as it had only a couple of spots on its head and the meat was pretty much white.
-
Weather and fish cooperate I expect to have an open seat Sunday am to fish area 10. Launch from Everett, run down. Fishing from an 18ft North River. Room for two people max. Will need a current license, be on time and expect a meet up of 6am. Donations towards fuel always accepted but not required by any means. Guests have dibs on the rods, ill just drive and relax. I've got all the poles and gear needed. No potty onboard, over the side or hold it. Probably fish until about noon.
-
H2O,
If your spot(s) still open, I'd love to go out. Been awhile since I've fished the salt. If you have two spots, I might be able to persuade the girlfriend to come along. That could be tough though because the last time she "had to go fishing w her company (they might make planes), they coptored into a world class fishing resort w tons sheltered water, big fish opportunities. Our waters might pale in comparison.
Jim
Look forward to hearing from you!

Bit of a drive for you boss. Went 2 for 3 and a handful of shakers.
-
Seats are filled. Reports to follow tomorrow!
-
Got it done. Check the MA 10 coho thread for pics.
-
If I get the boat back tonight I will have an open seat for tomorrow. Area 9 launching out of Mukilteo. 17' Hewescraft.
-
The Chehalis is opening tomorrow for coho, will check it and see if it's worth the time and effort to fish it very much before we get rain.
I'll likely have some open seats this season but only during the week, because I will not fish on the weekends, just too many people.

Just want to take a minute to introduce myself to the fishing side of this web site. I've been on the hunting side for a little while. But anyway, my name is Dave. I moved up here from Florida back at the end of may. I am retired from the Army where I spent 20 years and 28 days. Don't get me wrong, I loved my time in the military. But I had a little accident in Iraq which kind of led to my retirement. During my time in Florida I spent a lot of my time on my boat fishing and spearfishing, and doing my annual trip across to the Bahamas. As far as fishing here, I'm still learning. Been fishing for salmon with a buddy out on Whidbey Island where we chased hatchery salmon that were being protected by native salmon. Took a solid 5 hours, but managed to take 2 home. Had a great time. My boat in Florida was a center console, so I sold it before moving up here. Still deciding if I'm going to get another one, and what do I need up here. I prefer to fish on weekdays. My wife has a really hectic travel schedule for work, so I reserve my weekends for her. She is a PItts Steelers fan, but I don't hold that against her. I know my way around a boat and willing to pitch in for what ever costs there is. I'm a non drug user, but not afraid to have a few beers. I generally keep my conversations away from politics and religion, seems to work out better that way.
-
5 hours for 2 keeper salmon ain’t bad. Lots of bank fishing options if you are willing to drive and work at it a bit.
-
Im in Lacey and like hitting a local hole for Kokanee, anyone wanna go with? i have a 12' fiberglass flat bottom currently only 1 mini downrigger, looking for another. i also like chasing crappie and other stuff to eat :D warning, i do not C&R unless its not food worthy, feel free to let yours go, I dont lol
-
Just don't think I wanna may a foray into new waters tomorrow. Hitting Lake Stevens. Got an open seat. No gear needed but you must have a current license and preferred you have the two pole endorsement. Plan 9n being on the water just before sunup and will launch at Wyatt park as my close launch is shut down. Likely fish to 10 or 11 am. Boat is an 18ft ctr console Rhboats with pole holders and downriggers. Not major requirements other than don't show up hungover and don't be late. Pm if interested or post openly.
-
How have I missed this what a cool thread.

Maybe we can get together next Wed for a fishing trip :dunno:

Oh dang. Got another commitment. Haven't fished since I moved up here Summer 2023. My boat's been sitting (needs some attention).
Let me know if/when you come up with another seat. I'll be clamming at Copalis next week, mid-week
