We left camp at 5:15 in the morning and headed up the mountain. We got to our spot at 6:05 and headed into a old clear cut. I found a nice stump to rest my butt on that over looks a hill side and waited for it to get light out. While i was waiting i could hear a bull grunting, it sounded like it was coming from the bottom of the ravine where the creek was. I kept looking for him but couldnt find him. Now its about 7:00 and much lighter and I could still hear that bull grunting so i tried grunting back at him and when i did he got quiet and would stop grunting . :dunno: Then my buddy says "i see him, hes up above, way up at the top of the ravine on a old logging road." He had 2 cows with him. We get the range finder out and range him and he was 452 yards. I thought well i have made shots from that distance on deer before so it should be doable. We watch him for about 10 more minutes and he keeps going behind a tree and trashing the brush with his horns and I couldnt get a good shot off on him :bash: We decided to get closer so we got our stuff gatherd and looked for a way to get up on that old logging road that he was on. It took us about 20 minutes to get up onto the road he had been standing on and when we got to where we thought he was standing they were gone :bash: I looked down and seen their tracks and started to follow them down the road. We walked so slow right down the road looking around every corner. I was thinking, God they have to be around the next corner and as i came around the next corner there he was standing there with head down eating about 20 yards away :yike: I got down, took aim and shot. He ran off about 15 more yards and i put one more shot into him and he started to do the drunk stumble :chuckle: :chuckle: and down he went!! :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: It's not the biggest bull but it sure was a fun hunt and the meat weighed 477 on the hooks at the meat shop. :IBCOOL: I want to thank all of you that helped out with info that i had received from the great people on Hunt WA. There are some really nice folks on here, and a special thanks to wayner and Pa Ben. Shaun

Thanks I talked to mlbowhunter today and he said that him and two other moose hunters from this site that have selkirk tags haven't seen a moose in five days of hunting over there. :yike: I think the moose are a little late this year into the rut or the wolves are taking affect on them :dunno: I sure hope they find their moose.
