1 pound ground venison
1/2 cup onions, chopped fine
1 garlic clove, chopped fine
1 egg
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

Mix ingredients together, press into a loaf pan and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes (until cooked through). Top with gravy if you'd like and enjoy!

This is very similar to one I use and love.  I use oatmeal in place of the rice and add 1 tsp Worchestshire

As a moistener I make a topping with 1 cup ketchup, 4tbsp brown sugar, 4tbsp vinegar, 2tbsp Worchestshire mix over heat but do not boil, top meatloaf prior 10 minutes before it is done in the oven

:yeah: That's the way my father always did meatloaf. I have always made it the same way. I told the wife we were going to do minute rice in the meat loaf next time and she looked at me and said what did you do with my husband :chuckle:

Ok I'm making it with your topping sauce for tonight, seems like a lot of sauce for a pound of burger? :dunno:

My wife does something very similar and it is fantastic.  We sometimes spice it up a bit by chopping up a jalapeno or 2 and substituting some of the ketchup with sriracha.  Throwing a couple slices of bacon over the top while cooking doesn't suck either.

This is my go to recipe for meatloaf, adding other ingredients as my tastebuds differ.

But I’ve never had it cook in 30-45 minutes.🤯

What do you cook it in?

@Mrsveedub

What kind of loaf pan?

Put it in a shallower/wider dish so there is more surface area to crisp but you run the risk of overcooking.  Depends on your taste

I tend to like crispy meat.🤣

I add a tbsp of Montreal Steak Spicy seasoning for a little extra zip to our meatloaf. I've also done a 50/50 mix of deerburger and the Awesome Breakfast Sausage that I found on this site and that turned out really good as well.

Our recipe is similar.  It takes 3 hours on the Traeger at 225°.  Also, no pan, just placed on the grate.  It's SOooo GOOD!

The wife adds stovetop stuffing mix to her recipe. I'm not a big meatloaf fan , but this is unbelieveable.

I’ve been doing mine on the traeger also.  Love it. I still do a loaf. Has anyone used a more shallow cake pan in the smoker?  I was thinking it would put a lot more smoke into the meat.
