yote question
« on: January 01, 2013, 08:19:06 PM »
i have never coyote hunted and am going to start, what I'm wondering is what do you do once you have killed a coyote. do people still skin them and take the hide. Obviously you don't eat it. Or do you take pictures and leave it

well apparently you can pile them up and shoot yotes that stand near the pile. you can sell the hides if they are nice enough or you can keep the hides. I just bury mine.

i sell most of mine.  freeze them whole or skin em out.  not worth a ton but helps offset gass and ammo a little.

ive sold a few things on taxidermy.net but most of them go to a local fur buyer.  There are a few guys on your side of the hill that buy dogs.  but if its just 1-2 id put them on the shoot and relase program.  big silver/white dogs is where the moneys at.  eastside and northern dogs,

Skinned streched, dried and sent off to auction the can help to defray your hunting costs.  I've been having mine tanned to make a things with(my wife wants a throw).  I also sell them for wall hangings to other hunters.  It costs about $22. + shipping to get one tanned at Moyles Mink in Idaho.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

For me it depends on where I'm at. Most of the time I leave them where they drop but if I am doing pest control for a landowner I put them on trails or other routes I think they use, as sort of a deterrent - but it doesnt seem to matter. I havent been out all year but sometimes I give them to this dude who wants them to practice taxidermy or something but he only wants them if they dont have any skull or large damage, I'm like 'dude, I'm not thinking about whats best for you when I am shooting at them'! I dont know for sure what he does with them - dont really know if I want to know either!  For all I know he does voodoo rituals with them, from the looks of him it wouldnt surprise me!
I aint superstitious - cuz its bad luck!
