Goulds in Mexico

This is waaay ahead of time and I am not totally sure if it will work out next year but me and a buddy want to head to Mexico to hunt Goulds in 2014. I want to get the royal slam but financially it will have to be a multiple year slam taking place over the next two to three years. Has anyone of this forum done the Mexico turkey hunt yet? If so I'm researching different guide outfits to find the best deal but also the best chance at success. Let me know who you went with or might recommend and how the hunt was and all that. Thanks!!

The benefit of them is they also host Ocellated hunts.

No matter who you choose it isn't cheap. One of the main things I've been told to make sure of is that whatever outfitter you choose, find out how good they are at all the paperwork, border crossings and check points. Mess up on that stuff and you can ruin a trip of a lifetime.

Lovett Williams also runs hunts. I am sure you've heard of him, he is kind of a legendary biologist in the turkey world. But I don't think Lovett is in camp all that much any more, he is in his upper 70's. I also, don't know any one personally that has gone with him. I think his daughter runs things now. He used to do Ocellated hunts in Guatemala, but stopped that a few years ago. He is a cool guy.

I grew up in Northern Mexico (Im as white as can be, just grew up there), I have killed more Goulds than I want to sit down to count.  they are great hunts.  I can recommend one particular outfitter, and you will have great success.  They are personal friends of mine, they are the owners of huge ranches and they are great guides. 
Goulds are a challenge, they do seem to be much larger than the turkeys in Washington.  We hunt using turkey bone calls mostly and they really well respond to that, but with that said, I have called them up with box calls and other typical means of calling.

They are honest and treat you right, like I said, they are the owners of the ranches, they dont just lease the land, they are like the third generation to own the ranches, they know them inside and out, which is why they are so successful. 

I have never paid for a hunt down there, I always went with my friends on their ranches for free for coues deer and turkey (some of the ranches I hunted on are leased to outfitters for hunts).

By the time I include airfare, two nights in a hotel, outfitter price, and then the guide tip and USDA turkey export do you guys think it is possible to pull this trip off for around 3,000? Or should I set a slightly higher budget. The ojo caliente outfit only charges 2100 for the hunt. I think I would use their guns to save 500 bucks and the hassle of registering it and all that.
