The ONLY cheap pigeons you will find you will likely have to catch yourself. The price of feed is making all cheap things far too expensive. You will be doing well if you can find any birds for $5-7 each. Talk to local trainers or dog clubs, sometimes they have a few left overs or may let you order some with their larger order at a cheaper rate. Good luck in your search.

Does anyone know the legality of catching them in the city? I work in Seattle and could snatch literally hundreds a day if I knew it was ok. Those would be great trainers I imagine.

I was investigated by the cops once doing that. Sold the guy the Squabs then rowed to the boat launch {This was on Whidbey island}The cops stopped me and called a detective out. Said it was too much blood for a few birds. Squabs don't have many feathers so it was 6in of blood and seawater. Finally tested it as non-human and let me go. They thought I dumped a body in deep water. In 1972 blood tests took awhile.
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.
