elk trip north river
« on: November 09, 2008, 08:18:08 AM »
hunted 1st 3 days in north river unit. it was exciting, lots of road hunters . i got back of the road about 2 miles on a gated rd. i saw more elk sign than i ever seen in my life. tracks, droppings, rubs. saw 15 on sat . couple bulls with them. but they werein reprod  and couldnot count points. when i came outat dark i found someone had killed one right by my truck  gut pile 60 yards away lol. oh well then on my way back to monte nearly creamed a huge bull on 107. found a great alder thicket on sun. full of huge rubs 8 and 10 in trees. sat on it sun mon no luck tho. i know where ill be next season.

Even though you didn't get one it sounds like you had a very productive season ;). The same thing happened to me. I know exactly were to go next year on the opener. We just need some snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
