Congrats you will be happy you stuck with Toyota. Also, Carmax is a real stickler when it comes to reconditioning used cars. You should have many years of great use from that Rav4.

You guys…. There’s nothing wrong with buying American made rigs. The quality gap has closed exponentially over the past 20 years.

There is still plenty of a gap and the Rav4 is made in Kentucky.

I’ve never used Carmax but it sounds like a good service. My wife will be due for a new vehicle soon. Might have to give Carmax a try…

I'm spending the $175 +T to have the car gone over completely. CarMax also gives a 90-day/4K miles warranty bumper to bumper. As far as quality is concerned, the reviews on the equinox were about 50/50. The reviews on the Rav4 were about 80/10. Then, there's the resale value, which hands-down go to Toyota. This Rav4 was made in Canada.

I haven't hunted in 2 seasons and I'm selling it to Carmax for $33K, and getting a Chevy Equinox. They're paying the sales tax on the new car, too. So it's almost $36K, which isn't bad for a truck I've driven for 5 years and bought for $41K. Going to miss it but for the kind of hunting I'll ever be doing from now on, the crossover will fill the bill. Fuel efficiency is almost double and I'll get $13K back besides. Nice to have a little buffer in the bank until rates start falling.

I am really sorry to hear you have not been able to hunt the last couple years.  :sry:
Part of me keeps my pickup just to justify me continue hunting,  :chuckle:
It sucks getting older at times.

If it concerns you, the new Chevy's do not have Apple Air Play or Android Auto. They all have Chevy's on sucky entertainment system, and they charge a subscription fee to use it and On Star.
Not everyone cares about that, but it would be a deal breaker for me.

I have purchased 2 chevy’s in the last 6 months and they both have Apple Car Play and you don’t have to pay for On Star for the Chevy app to work. You get 3 years of the Chevrolet app for free with purchase of the vehicle.

Apparently Chevy is phasing Carplay and Android Auto out.
Here is one article.

So, after the post-purchase inspection, the shop, which does work for CARMAX, came back with $1300 in repairs, much of which should've been caught before sale - headlights and plate lights out, disgusting air and cabin filters, not very cool air, streaking wiper blades, differentials need changing. Took it back and they're going to do all the repairs because I have 10 days to send it back and let them know I'd use it. They give me a loaner while it's in the shop next week. I'm happy with the car and the sales process, and would actually recommend them. But take it to a mechanic, as with any used car purchase.
